Squirrels are some of the most difficult animals to take photos of, at least for me, but today I want to share a cute little friend I managed to photograph. I love watching animals eat, and I find animals that use their “hands” extremely adorable. A view like that always makes my day a bit happier. Sometimes I, imagine what would it be if someone thought every action we do is fascinating and deserves to be photographed, haha.
Did you know that squirrels eat their own body weight every week?
Another fun fact, squirrels may pretend to bury a nut to throw off potential thieves.

I only watch birds eat. I watch ants carry their load bigger than they are, to their colony. I watched bull ants eat green caterpillars that were eating my broccoli. Strange. 🙂
I hadn’t heard of bull ants before, but they seem like they shouldn’t be messed with. The sight of birds eating seeds is precious.
Parrots just strip our apricot tree, bare! Hmph! Planning on netting our cherry trees, too!
Sorry to hear about that! Here, people tie old CDs on the branches to reflect light and scare the blackbirds, but I am not sure how well it works.
Haha! I did that too several years ago. Friends of ours gave us a boxful of old CDs, so, “why not”, I thought.
The birds may think it’s a disco party, haha.
With the dogs along. Never. 🙁 I have seen the occasional rabbit. I think the ones that do use their hands are so cute too. The beaver, the raccoon, and otter come to mind. You asked if I liked to watch animals eat. Some yes, like the ones I mentioned. Then there are are cows, not so much. Snakes, nope. lol you get the idea.
At least you can take awesome photos of your dogs in different places! 🙂 You are right, carnivorous animals may not be the cutest to watch eat.
True, they are much prettier than any rabbit. lol. I need to wake up more. You know what I read? You are right, coronavirus animals may not be the cutest to watch eat. hahaha. I thought what???? Then read it again, ah carnivorous made much more sense. Good morning!
This virus has filled our minds so much!
Have a wonderful day, Kim and a great new week! 🙂
Yes, it has. Just thought you find that kind of funny. Sad in a way, but funny. You too, have a great one!
There is a nearby park with lots of squirrels. When I want to take pictures I go there. I have a whole collection of squirrel photos. It used to be hard to find them, but now with the 70-300mm lens it’s easier. It’s very sweet.
That’s awesome! Here, they always try to avoid the people.
Yes, I have pictures of Squirrels. I really like them. I worked in Toronto and squirrels were everywhere.
Oh, that’s awesome! They are too scared of people here.
You can find squirrels happily with humans in all Toronto. It is great. I have not seen squirrels in the cities of Spain though.
Here, they are high up in the trees, but it’s almost impossible to hand feed them as I have seen in videos.
Super shot. I tried to photograph the squirrel but failed.
Thank you so much! They are very difficult to take photos of.
great shot of a scampering creature! i love watching them eat!
Thank you very much!
of course they drive the dogs nuts (pun intended) when they scamper along the top of our back fence!
Haha, I can imagine! Our dog was very peaceful, he would let all types of critters eat from his bowl – cats, frogs, birds, etc., but one thing he couldn’t stand were other dogs.
dogs are like that some things are a bridge too far.
They are very fast for their small body. I always seem them.dashing into bush when they see a human.
They don’t like humans much here either.
Same here I love monkeys and squirrels because they do such cute things with their hands/paws
Yeah, their hand actions make everything cuter.
We don’t have squirrels here in New Zealand, I think they look cute. I saw a grey squirrel only once in Hyde Park London a long time ago
I also think they are very cute. Squirrels hwrw avoid people.
It is really hard to catch squirrels photo
That’s true, they are too fast.
That’s a great photo. We have squirrels and have quite a few captures.
Thank you so much, that’s great! They are so fast I usually miss them.
What a great shot. I never get to see squirrels in my yard for some reason. And I did not know they ate so much. Cute critter. 🙂
Thank you! They usually run and jump so fast that if I blink, I miss them, haha.
I know, like many birds, it takes patience.
