Some ideas for sharing old posts
- Go to your profile: more: posts and navigate to the post you want to share. Open the post and share it.
- If you wish to go back to that post and don’t want to edit the post go to the URL (located in the address bar at the top of the page.) Select the entire link and copy it. I usually paste it into notepad for later use.
- Go to search, and if you know the exact title of the post, you can find it that way as well.
- Copy the URL and paste that into your new posts
When you look at old posts, there are a couple of things to consider. The posts that are already doing well in terms of views from 2 or 3 years ago are the ones to edit. High view low comment posts do well when edited and made new! They also, by the way, do well if share don social media. A high view post is normally anything with more than 300 views. Why 300 views? Well, over the last few years, we’ve had 200 active authors. (Give or take a few) so 300 means your post has gotten some external views. If it is over 300 views and virtually no comments (less than say ten total comments), then you have a Gem that is most likely highly external view friendly.
I have played with two options today and have in the past few weeks also done a 3rd option. Option 1 is my wander project today, linking to an older wander project. The original post was the low view and low comment. But I have only shared it on Social Media and embedded it in the post I shared today.
Option two is a low view low comment post from 3 years ago. I edited that post and shared it today.
Option 3 is editing an old high view low comment post.
Option 4 is editing a high view, high comment post.
Each of the options has an impact. My primary interest is in driving external views. I will share the data collected in a few days!
Option 1 embed a link to an old post in a new post

It will take me too long to find my old posts so I haven’ gone there.
actually, with the new system, it is easy
go to your profile page
Click the more button
click the posts
when the page opens up
find the highest number (on the far right of the post pages list)
Click that. You are now looking at your oldest posts!
Ok will try that…May try to find the first.
let me know! always curious what people end up sharing@
You have read one of my first posts already…and glad of your instructions which were very helpful, thanks fo much.

I haven’t tried posting old posts yet …. I can see that there are quite a few already posting old posts
if it is a post with high views, but low comments, it really helps the site in terms of views overall!
Maybe I decide again and post some old post, dear friend
i think you should, it would be fun to see them!
But maybe I really try … I’m not entirely sure, dear friend
do what makes you happy pal!
Cheers Doc! I am out of time now but am commenting quickly to return here later to reread, consider, etc… This is most helpful!
thanks pal – glad you are back and welcome your thoughts.
There are many I cannot edit. Only certain ones for some reason. Here is an example of a post that could not be edited…
https://virily.com/science-nature/yellow-butterfly/
there appears to be an issue with the overall edit button. I suspect the site realized the error.
I almost always link old posts when they are relevant to my topic, but they don’t usually get clicks. Now that embed them, I see better results.
I have had good success so far with the various models.
but i still don’t see the site moving overall.
I feel there are less new posts in the last couple of weeks, and maybe less active users.
i have so many PMs from people that are tired of the negativity.
I noticed that too. It is unpleasant if you want to write about current events.
Very interesting post. I haven’t tried any of your suggestions yet. I have to take the time and review everything and think of which option to choose. Below is another post of mine

thanks for sharing this! let me know if you try one of these. I want to track them!
Okay, agreed. I’ll let you know
I took this opportunity. I posted an old post without editing anything. I like this innovation
thanks, I saw that. the impact of high view high comment posts being edited is still lower than lower view lower comment posts. the posts that seem to help the site most are high view, low comment old posts.
Well I am not that old here to use any of your suggestions , I hope they work.
you can share some of your older posts again!
or pick one of your favorites and share a link with me and I will share it with the universe!
