For me, the more photos, the better for the world.
I take a ton of digital photos, deleting the ones I am not happy with. They are all meaningful to me.
Thank you for participating in the poll, Carol. Some of our club members have digital cameras and others use analog, (film) as I said in my article, there are merits for both. I am Stoic in this regard. I might just add as a point of interest, that we judge the genres separately.

Hi Ghostwriter, thank you for participating in the poll, 14% agree with you. I made it quite clear in the content that there are valid points for both, analog and digital. The world is unlikely to ever go back to analog photography and digital or a variant like “hollowgramography” will dominate the photographic scene.
I find that argument interesting but only from the reality of the conversation. As a technologist, I am sometimes privy to insider information about technology. In having that information I can make different decisions than most people can. In the world of film photography that knowledge was held by the few.
Most of us took many bad pictures and very few good ones.
Now with the digital world, and the significantly reduced cost per picture (what once cost 50 cents or so per picture now costs .000001 cents per picture). It manes I can take 1200 pictures at a time when once i might have taken 100.

Hello Howard, I’m not sure what your point is. The polls are part of Virily’s system and are free to respond to. I have explained my position stance on the topic and will repeat it here briefly. My position is 100% neutral. 15 million people in society at large voted against digital photography. I am the least qualified as an associate member of a group of amateur photographers. One of our members requested I put the question to Virily members, here are the results. Users voted 7 times.

I had to say something. The polls are often messed up – yes, Virily problem not you.
Oh, people felt the same way when Kodak let the masses have cameras. Everything was fine – it’s no big deal for people to have access to techniques and processes.

The only photos that could be considered having some value are those that we upload at sites or try to monetize and ofcourse those that are clicked at events.
‘At the drop of a hat’ photographs are not even looked at sometimes.
So yes, those that are clicked ;at the drop of a hat’ are certainly plentiful and hardly meaningful

Yes , some picture speak whole story
Digital cameras have democratized photography and filmmaking in a powerful way. This a good thing. I don’t, however, believe it has made the art form mundane in any way. I love digital photography because I have more control at less expense. It has changed the way I work; but, analog was an expensive pain in the butt – one that I really enjoyed.
Chemical photography will never die and will always have a place in the world of art forms. I have an etching press and make intaglio prints – just like 700 years ago. People still make pinhole camera photos. Artists never cough up any available techniques. Is it more special? It depends on the particular image. The materials or techniques of an art work are best chosen and used based on the needs of the finished work.
It is an interesting query you posed. Worthy of much discussion. I am interested in what people have to say on this. Cheers man.

More plentiful in executed photos with a few more in ‘keepers’ maybe.Yup, a few more completed photos I guess. I used to bracket exposures (3) now I take like 10? and pick one.
I tend to take lots of digital photos and sorting them out on what I want is a long slow process, Yet if I miss the opportunity I may not get the chance to capture what I want to portray again
I think that photos are becoming less meaningful because we are bombarded with so many every day. I also think that you think that photos are less meaningful because you already know that you have to edit a Virily poll like four times before it processes correctly.
