The free library was in front of a house at 1341 West Granville, Chicago, Illinois (Edgewater neighborhood). Homeowners put them up on their front yards and, as people pass by, they can just take any book that catches their eye. They also have magazines and sometimes even music CDs. They also drop off any books or magazines they have which they no longer need.
Some places have tried something similar with canned food. I’ve yet to see one of those in Chicago and I doubt they would work well here.
I used ACDSee Ultimate 10.4 to crop, adjust the lighting and boost the contrast and vibrance. Then I used Photoshop Elements 13.1 to apply the colorpop effect. I don’t use Elements for much – which is why I’m two releases behind the current one – but it does a great job with colorpop.

Fantastic idea, photo and edit there.
Excellent idea 🙂
Fortunately people seem to not be taking advantage of them, either.
I’d like to have that in my house
I’m glad there’s someone in our building whose handy enough with tools to build one. I don’t have the skills.
We have some locally as well!
They are starting to become very popular.
Yes we got one of ours locally around 2008, it’s a great idea!
I love these, https://littlefreelibrary.org/ & https://littlefreelibrary.org/tag/uk/
I have set one up near me and influenced two in the USA, such is the reach of social media.
Isaw one for the first time on a trip to Scotland earlier this year.
Free library is a very good idea. It’s nice your place has one.
I like the idea also. The one for our building is built but not installed yet. Hopefully, this weekend.
Interesting post
Thanks.
Very cool idea Gary.
