This baobab tree in Senegal is about 6,000 years old, carbon dating has found that fact.Older than the Great Pyramid in Egypt. When some of the baobabs in Senegal reached maturity, our ancestors continued to use stone tools.

When it was just beginning to make the leaf of the baobab tree, the Sahara desert was still lush and green, and our ancient Iron Age wandered through the Earth. Baobab trees are very eerie looking and in addition to being Senegal’s national symbol, they’re used for nearly everything under the sun.Boababs are fat-trunked trees that are native only to Madagascar and North-Western Australia. They have been known to attain girths of almost 30m, with a diameter of about 9-10m. It is thought that boababs live up to 2,000 – 6,000 years.
Just like in the Little Prince.
I like quotes from the book “Little Prince”.
I thought it was just a fiction, now I know that there is a real baobab tree.
The mystery is even greater when we know that in this part of the world, the baobab tree has vanished from the climate.
I agree, it is so sad when something like this will just vanish because of neglect from people like us.
The stories it will tell if it could speak.
Hmm, if the trees were talking, when streams would sing …
Very interesting post.
How does it seem to Virily’s community?
Very good, I think 🙂
Fantastic tree indeed!
This is somehow proof for me that the planet is not just ours, but all the living creatures at the same time. People have thought too much for themselves.
I agree with you. Things like that make you realize how small you are and how little time you have on the planet.
Nice Very Beaytifull
wow this is stunning and same old with earth
wow?? older than the great pyramid of Egypt! ????????
Interesting. So old tree.
Nice Very Beaytifull
That is quite amazing! I recently saw 4000-year-old olive trees in Greece, but this is half as much older again!
Just one thing I didn’t understand in your article: how can the baobab be “native only to Madagascar and North-Western Australia” if it was present six millennia ago in Senegal?
More info: https://inhabitat.com/grab-a-drink-inside-a-6000-year-old-baobab-tree-at-south-africas-sunland-bar/
I don’t know why you gave me that link. There is no more info there. I researched it myself, and here is the situation:
There are nine species of baobab (Adansonia), six are native to Madagascar, two are native to mainland Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, and one is native to Australia.
That’s pretty cool!
yes, thank you
This is an amazing tree. Question is owned many are still alive these days?
I love the sunset photo. 🙂
The photo is current. This tree is alive.
Super Picture of the Evening Seen in the best Calligraphy……

Beauty is in the eye of the observer.
