This photo was taken in 2007 up in the far North of New Zealand.
An old house which has seen better days and yet somehow, it lends character to a photograph.
Every small town in Northland has a Maori story to it. This would be a house that is 100 years old and neglected. Once it would be a farm with people who were struggling for survival…in early New Zealand.

There are quite some houses like this in the rural areas when I visited some countries … and they’re people living in there …
Sometimes people just need a roof over their heads and what makes a home to them is the warmth and bonds.
That is so true, they do…Northland is not an easy place to live in but nice to visit.
what a great picture, showing the overgrown fields and the old abandoned farmhouse. I suspect the story of the people is as sad as the image.

I like pictures of old houses. It is fun making up stories of who lived there. There was an old cottage when I was a kid at the end of our road that had a very pretty fireplace. There was also an old swing and a shelter that was made out of pipe, I think. Thanks to nature (floods) and a fire a long time ago this place no longer stands.
Yes, it is nice to see old places restored…I am a fan of restoration but it does cost money time and effort.
