Wacky Wednesday – Old house Kaitaia

This photo was taken in 2007 up in the far North of New Zealand.

An old house which has seen better days and yet somehow, it lends character to a photograph.

Every small town in Northland has a Maori story to it. This would be a house that is 100 years old and neglected. Once it would be a farm with people who were struggling for survival…in early New Zealand.

  1. There are quite some houses like this in the rural areas when I visited some countries … and they’re people living in there …
Sometimes people just need a roof over their heads and what makes a home to them is the warmth and bonds.

  2. I like pictures of old houses. It is fun making up stories of who lived there. There was an old cottage when I was a kid at the end of our road that had a very pretty fireplace. There was also an old swing and a shelter that was made out of pipe, I think. Thanks to nature (floods) and a fire a long time ago this place no longer stands.
