Sweet Lilacs ~ Day 167

Lilacs are such beautiful and fragrant flowers with their green leaves. They are perennials, meaning they will bloom year after year. Not much maintenance is required. Lots of sunlight and that is about it. They come in many varieties and colors. Mine are a light purple. Lilacs can grow from 5 to 15 feet tall, depending on the variety. The fragrant flowers are good for cutting and attractive to butterflies. I always cut a bouquet and bring indoors. Smells wonderful and brings back childhood memories.

The frost got most of the blooms but I managed to catch these few before they are gone. I have been spending so much of my time in the backyard, I almost forgot about these lilacs in the front yard. Nature has so much to offer.

  1. Darn weather. Lovely photo and these bloom the same time as the honeysuckle? Wow, I bet your garden smells heavenly. I like this color.
