lights.
We were looking in the closet
then in the garage
but the light had run away. It was not
in the box
that opened distracted us for a time
look at the pictures we had forgotten
and the baseball cap from 40 years ago
but no light.
The light that
we had allowed to escape
rushing to close the lid
but too late.
It was gone now. Had we stopped
had
we considered before rushing
the light would have pooled and
gathering, waiting would have been there.
Instead, we now chase the light
not sure we will ever see it again.

Yes we go chasing lights because the lights within us have gone out.

Great song. I haven’t heard that phrase before, but I think we can see it with our ears as well. Of course we have to listen.
