The concept of wearable or wearable connected medical devices is one that interests me. In part because connected medical devices can save your life. But also in part, because the concept of connected medical devices provides more information to your doctor. If you have an irregular heartbeat, you can use a connected monitor to watch and provide your doctor with more information.
One of the devices that have been discussed, but I have not seen on the market yet, is the allergen sensor. This would be a small handheld wand that you could quickly wave over food. If your child has a nut allergy, the rod will notify you of the presence of nuts on the menu. Sometimes you can see the nuts, but sometimes you can’t the wand would protect the allergic child from the impact of the allergy.
More and more doctors are looking at having their patients use connected medical devices. The other advantage of the invention is that if you aren’t conscious when first responders access the medical device, it can give them your name and any medical information to save your life. In the future, we will see more and more connected medical devices covering more and more issues people have.
In the future, there will be more information available for Doctors to be better equipped to treat your illness.
I hope the coronavirus blows over soon, however, it is wise to remember the black plague.
It is a time of great sadness around the world. How are things in NZ?
Some time device are really harmful
sorry you will have to expand that. Anything used incorrectly can be damaging.

That allergen sensor sounds like a good idea. More and more people are having allergies these days.
it is very expensive but it does do well with most allergens in food.
I find the allergen sensor interesting. I would be happy to try it.
I have a demo of the product (so I can’t review it they sent it to me for free). But overall it works well on things you are allergic to.
It picks up nuts in food very well so far.
I do not know if I will use such devices. But under the conditions in Spain, I put on a mask and glasses. I avoid going out. I don’t even go to the store. I make bread at home. I was surprised by Thomas Gouard’s comment “I have met people while shopping to wear masks, but I personally do not believe it is still so serious to wear.” I don’t know where he lives, but things are very bad here.
thomas lives in Chicago, and he is a Marathon runner. He is in the last group that will ever get this disease!
I have no problem wearing a device if it helps and protects me.
i think help and protects is the key! thanks Carol!!!
Exactly. And staying home when possible.
our CEO said it was mandatory to stay home. Only those that have to be out, are out.
I do not wear any protective equipment, dear friend … I stay mostly at home and do not accept any visits and this is the best protection
i can understand that – the number of protective devices out there for connected medical is huge!
I think you know my answer.. I am not a great fan of wearable devices. I have two of them sitting unused for a couple of years now.
I like the idea of allergen sensor. I think a lot of people may be saved using it. None of us at home have any major allergies.
I will use one only if I have no other choice.
there is a slight sliver there. I will use one if I have no other choice!
I am slowly winning you over!
I do understand your points. It is a tough situation all the way around. The allergen sensor exists now, but it is really expensive!
I am very suspicious of IOT devices and how the they could be misused. As I have said earlier, I am fine with technology, but I am suspicious when it comes to how such personal data could be misused.
Here is an interesting counter-argument to that.
1. 30 years ago people stole others identity and the likelihood would be that no one would ever find out. You could, stop being you and disappear.
2. now you can’t.
We gain and lose, my twins are alive because of technology. They would be dead now without medical technology. So I am in favor!
Technology is good and life saving, but I am wary of humans, when you live amid corruption and people with [poor values I guess you tend to become a bit more cautious .
I did not mean to make you feel bad. Sorry.
no need to apologize.
i do understand the human element as well.
just realized years ago, with technology or without technology the human element and issue were there.
I did not know how to answer your thought-provoking questions. I did wear a monitor of some kind to see if I had heart problems. If a device could help the concern of the virus I may wear it.
what an interesting idea pal (or is it Sis now?} now you are making me think. What if we could prevent a virus-like Covid-19 with something wearable.
Nice…now the wheels are churning.
I would most likely wear it if things got out of hand. I have encountered people while shopping wearing masks, but I personally do not believe that it is that serious to wear one yet. I’d probly wear one if I were definitely flying out from the airport because it is congested and we are literally within arms reach from other people.
plus there really isn’t a huge filtration system on an airplane!
I about died going to Texas because the guy sitting next to me had some sort of cold. Thankfully I was wearing my scarf, so I covered my nose and mouth with it.
I remember those days. I flew to Amsterdam once and started the flight sitting in coach next to a person who was clearly sick.
I got upgraded, and moved! thank goodness! Flying while sick is the worst!
I’ve had the sniffles, and occasional sneeze. Wouldn’t want to imagine evil eyes I’d get now with the corona worldwide.
it is a hard time anywhere right now. I am allergic to Choke-Cherries that bloom right now. it is hard not to sneeze around people.
I feel uncomfortable sneezing in my own apartment. Every time I sneeze I just wonder what my neighbors are thinking, lol.
This too shall pass my friend.
I am worried about the path beyond this. Right now it looks like a brave new world.
