Sharing a red tulip from with Kim’s Color Crazy Challenge. This week’s color is red. I found this tulip while out shopping and had to take some photos. One of the rare occasions I was not in my garden. These were out for Valentine’s Day.
The ones in my garden were black (Queen of the Night) and orange. I shared one of mine below. It is so orange it actually looks red. What do you think?

Lovely red tulip, very nice post
Thank you very much Pam. Red is a happy color.
It is reported that tulips were worth more than gold,” said Martha Smith. … The tulip’s history in The Netherlands didn’t begin until 1593 when botanist Carolus Clusius discovered them growing in Vienna and began cultivating them in The Netherlands
Wow that is cool to know. Great trivia on tulips, thank you!
I would love to visit the Netherlands one day.
I would have to say that is more red than orange for sure. I love tulips, don’t know why I don’t have any planted. I will blame it on the hardiness of our soil. Got a jack hammer?
Yes I agree with you Kim. The sun makes them more red. The soil here is not perfect and all of mine do not appear each spring but I enjoy the ones that do.
my wife loves these!
The fields of tulips in Holland are spectacular in May!
Yes I can understand why she does. Have seen photos of Holland but never visited.
you might never come back to the US. The fields are amazing.
You also take great pictures. Your camera must be of a high quality.
Thanks very much. I have a few cameras but the one I use the most is a small Canon. I call it my pocket camera.
Lovely tulip. Back in my garden in Latvia, I had red tulips and occasionally a yellow one would pop up. My red tulips had either black or yellow centers.
Yes I think they all have black centers or at least mine do.
oh right, I keep forgetting to do a color crazy challenge
Kim will remind you….
Your tulip is neither red nor orange. I will call it Carol (lol)
It is red-orange. 🙂 Have a good weekend!
Also, the sun was also shining on it and oyu know how that can change the color of blooms.
Beautiful flower. I have in the garden tulips of different colors.
Thank you my friend, I love seeing all different colors. All of mine did not bloom this year for some reason.
More beautiful closeup shots. Lovely blooms.
Thanks, I love the red ones!
I thought it was red! Just of another shade!
It’ll be interesting actually if we all try to post in different shades of red!
It is all in the way the sun hits the blooms. You are right that would be cool.
I will now call it red-orange! 🙂
Haha, nice one, Carol! 🙂
Very beautiful tulips, dear Carol
Thanks to you my dear Lado. Hope your day is going well.
Beautiful tulips, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your comment.
And have a great rest of your day.
