Geography was my favourite subject and my interest continues. There is always that satisfaction when I get to see what I studied in school
Our trip to Kashmir years ago provided me an opportunity to personally see the source of a river. And that was Verinag – source of the river Jhelum which has a length of over 700 km. .
The basin of the source is tiny – just a few square feet. I saw loads of fish swimming in there. The guide explained its route in detail. This river feeds two countries. There is a gorge through which it passes to Pakistan.
I cannot but marvel at the possibility of a river having a source that starts with just a few sq. ft.

Have you visited river sources in your country?

This doesn’t look good, though. I hope the residents are aware of the danger. I don’t know, maybe it has many tributaries.
All is well there. I am not sure why you say it does not look good.
Sorry, I made a mistake. I’ve already made so many comments that I’ve mixed everything up. ? The river looks beautiful. I love geography too. Overall, I like to explore new places.
I understand. You are back after many days posting.
The color of the water is amazing!
That place has a beautiful garden and well maintained.
This looks more like a basin than a spring I saw. I like the color of the water. Wonderful!
Behind this spring as it is called there is a small area where there was plenty of fish.
That’s beautiful! Isn’t that springs are always smaller than rivers that carry water everywhere? The wisdom of nature hides in it…
Marvels of nature indeed.
That is one huge spring there. Such a pretty color of water.
This was a great memory for me specially to see the source- a tiny basin
For a spring that one is very large. Most of ours around here are called seeps, they trickle out and evaporate, but we actually ran a fishing resort in Arkansas, and lived on a spring. It gushes thousands of gallons of water and empties into the White River. The source is about 5 feet wide.
I suppose it is different in different areas. Here the basin as we call it is behind the spring.
It must have been very cold when you visited. I am yet to visit the origin of any river.
It was at the end of September a few years ago and at that time it was just pleasant.
Good. I am glad you had a memorable trip.
I have been on several trips the world over and they are all memorable
To be very honest I never tried
Do it once and you will feel really fulfilled.
Geography was my favorite subject at school, dear Grace … it’s a very interesting spring … most of us are waterfall
There is no end to how much one can see in one’s life time.
I also enjoyed, and still enjoy geography.
Have you been travelling a lot too?
Not much at all, except when I was smaller. My Dad’s job transferred us, but all in the US.
Come to India Carol and be our guest.
I have never seen any origin of a river
Do take the opportunity whenever you can. Those are great memories.
Geography isn’t one of my favorite subjects but I love going places.
I have never liked history but geography did keep me engaged.
