Tech Wiz on bags and weather stations

A couple of random thoughts I had that popped into my head this morning. The first thing is the reality of portability. I know that when I hurt my shoulder a few years ago, my definition of probability changed. I started looking for lighter and lighter items that I would carry with me. Moving to a rolling bag changed where I would be as well.  I don’t have shoulder pain anymore, but it also means I don’t do stairs as often. I miss walking up and down stairs. The world of backpacks continues to evolve. I suspect I will return to a backpack again. Where you need to be, drives the type of computer carrying system you use. If you are walking from a parking garage to a building and then need to climb stairs the backpack is a better solution.

I posted the is your bag too heavy on MyLot today. Feel free to comment here, or hop on MyLot and comment there as well!

The other thing that popped into my head this morning was the reality of portable weather gear. In the past 20 years, I have owned four different home weather stations. The current Bloomsky is the system that shares time-lapse video. The other stations have been retired. One was a Davis system that was very useful and was the first station is used in Maryland. The other was an Oregon Scientific station I had in Indiana. The Oregon Scientific station had a temperature device that floated in the pool, which in the spring and fall is useful (knowing how cold the water is!). The integration with cellular phones allows newer weather stations to offer even more information.

I know the two thoughts in my head today are far apart from each other. It was more because I tripped over my computer bag this morning after lifting it and moving it yesterday. To get to the light switch in my office, I have taken one step into the room. This morning I tripped over where I had moved my bad too, I guess my short term memory (moved it yesterday, tripped over it today) is not what it used to be.  The weather station is something I check every day, as that is the basis of my Yesterday’s Snarky Weather forecast on my youtube channel. I love sharing a time-lapse video of the weather. The snarky comments I make, are also something I enjoy doing!

  1. This brought back a memory. Dustin used to have back pain and we finally figured out it was his heavy backpack. This happens a lot with school kids.
