One of the things I love about the improved technology around us is the reality of speakers. I love music. I have long chased good speakers and good musical systems. I had a stereo in my house for many years. But the technology of speakers has improved. I the concept of wireless speakers has changed the world of music. Back when I first had a home theater area in my living room, I also had wires all over the place. The house we have in Germantown, MD, actually has jacks for speakers all around the house. Back in the day, that is how you wired your house for sound. I realize that most people don’t care about that. It isn’t something that t=people stop and think about all the time.
But I do! Sonos is the system I choose, and I have a good friend that chooses the Bose. I’ve listened to both wireless speaker systems and honestly, I can’t say which one is better. Other than one is at my friend’s house and one is at my house. We have speakers in 5 rooms in our house today. On various holiday mornings, I turn the music on in every room. We can go into our basement set up and play records for every speaker in the house. We can also play cassette tapes and SiriusXM on every speaker in the house. Right now, there is Holiday music playing on all the perks in the home. Wireless speakers are easy to set up and operate. Once you have the first speaker setup, you can quickly add others.
We also added a subwoofer in the basement and the living room. That way, the full fidelity of the music and be heard. Unlike older speakers, there isn’t as much of a moving speaker system to wear out, and wireless speakers last many years. I also like the sound. With subwoofers, any musical system sounds better. The better the speakers the better the system can sound. But the other side of the speakers is how integrated are they. We can play records, television shows, DVDs, cassettes, and internet radio sources as well as terrestrial radio sources (AM/FM) in any and every room that has a wireless speaker. Plus, you can control all of that from your phone or tablet! The beauty of a Sonos or a Bose system is that you can start with one speaker.
Hopefully, everyone is having a wonderful day!

I like music playing but I don’t like the volume too loud that you have to ask somebody to repeat what they said and/or you have to raise your voice to be heard.
I can see a pixie flying above the computer, banging her head on clouds to loud music!
More like singing her lungs out ??? especially if she knows the lyrics of the song ?
well that is a scarier image – i don’t think that one will go away.
We have stereos and wireless speakers at home but we hardly [play them anymore. Hubs plays it once in a while when he is in a mood.
The boys play the music for us and we sing together. We have enjoyed those times at Christmas more than the music played on the stereos. We will really miss them at Christmas this year.
It is hard when you can’t be with your kids on Christmas – sorry about that!
Its funny, we use our wireless speakers all the time. On Christmas day, we turn the music on in every room!
back in the day, I bought a spool of speaker wire from Radio Shack and ran speakers all over my room
i was dumb enough to buy two. I had my living room wired. Now I have a spool of unused speaker wire.
The guy the owned the house we bought, had speaker wire run to every main room of the house. Now I have boxes, with connected wire and no use for the wires!
yeah, still have most of that spool in my bag o’ cords
i have thought about covering or plating, even plastering over the boxes but they do move wires through the walls from the basement to the main level.
just leave them alone, they aren’t hurting anybody…
having wires that could be rerun is of value. I was just thinking of putting a flat plate to cover the exposed wires. I don’t know I hadn’t made a decision.
you don’t have to deal with them at all
my wife doesn’t like them! So something will happen eventually.
then you’ll probably need a solution
I think I am just going to get the plate covers and be done with it!
if you can’t tear it out, cover it up?
in this case, yes that is probably best.
if you cover it up and need it later, you have options
that is what I am thinking. I may want to pull those wires and run other cables in the future!
coverup strategies afford you that option
in fact they do, plus I can reuse all that speaker wire. I have no idea for what.
yeah, I don’t have a use for mine either
I have the speakers next to the radio. When I replace the radio, I may also have speakers.
many people do! it is interesting just how much speakers have changed!
I just got a cheap wireless one in order to listen to videos while washing dishes at the sink, lol.
i did as well, A buddy of mine works for Sonos so I get a good deal (employee pricing) on the speakres.
When it comes to mine, the quality matches the low price, haha.
i used to be a DJ on the radio. I have to have high quality audio. It is really important to me.
I still have the huge Bose speakers and surround sound. Remember when that was huge! Now you can come close to getting the same sound wireless. Amazing technology.
it really is amazing. The soundbar from Bose or Sonos just changes everything. Although football collisions are a bit loud!
When I listened to music, there were no such options … I never had strong speakers at home because my parents would go crazy … but I always had powerful speakers in the car … today, I just need the normal speakers that you get from the ice tower I have. ..
i just like being able to have my music play in the house!!! 🙂
