My smoke bush in the front has started to produce leaves and now is blooming. I often find bird nests in the bush. So far nothing but the season has just started.
I really enjoy the smoke bush every year. It has the burgundy colored leaves kind of like the coral belles I posted about here Timeless Treasure Coral Belles.
Another great addition to the garden that comes back each year. Below I have shared a photo of the smoke bush leaves. Such a cool burgundy color.

Thank you for your comment.
Love the capture of this one.
Thanks it is another favorite.
I’m glad to see everything blossomed in your garden Carol.
It continues each day my friend, thank you.
Ah yes, spring in action. Such a pretty tree sized bush. Great shots. 🙂
Thank you Kim, one of my many favorites that brings a smile.
spring has come – thanks Carol for sharing your magnificent garden!
You are kind Doc, I know you are getting bored with so many flower photos already. 🙂
Not bored yet, but thanks for the kind words! I can make it through a few more days of flowers!
Don’t say I didn’t warn you. 🙂
I shall respond with pictures of water alternating with flowers!
Enjoy the weather! We do not have a yard, only a terrace
Thank you, I prefer cooler weather but am enjoying the blooms.
Lovely flowers! We are now in the summer season. Our country has only two seasons. Summer which they call dry season and rainy days or wet season. Flowers grow all year round though some bear flowers on certain months.
Thanks. It is always interesting to read about other cultures and how different we are, but yet we have so much in common.
Very nice post, never seen this bush here, but it is great if birds can nest in it
Thank you Pam, yes the birds love this bush for nesting.
I have to praise the unique flowers and the different colors of the leaves.
…and of course for beautiful photos…
And I thank you immensely for the praise my friend.
…and you always welcome, dear friend.
I live in an area that is a bit on the rural side, so I definitely see signs of spring around me!
Same here, and glad you enjoy nature as well Michelle.
any idea why they call it a smoke bush?
Yes as a matter of fact I was told the name comes from billowy hairs that are attached to the flower clusters. You can’t see it yet but when it matures I will post another photo. Thanks for asking.
… these blooms turn a smoky pink color, some think that is the origin of the name, the color.
One more comment. I found a link to a previous post of a mature tree. It shows how the blooms get so cool….
https://virily.com/challenges/fascinating-smoke-tree-day-204/
that looks strange as it matures
I think that last bloom you saw in the link is how the bush got its name.
The bush has really wonderful leaves. Color is something special.
Thanks, I love the color of the leaves.
This color is really special, dear friend
Thanks, I love the color of the leaves as well.
We’ve spring much earlier … but well we don’t have season, its just a change of temperature and the festive season …
Thanks for sharing part of your world. It is cool to learn. 🙂
