Postojna Cave

Here’s a picture from my short trip to Croatia and Slovenia that took place last spring. This is inside Postojna Cave, a karst cave system near Postojna, southwestern Slovenia.

The cave is 24,340 m long, and it was carved by the Pivka River over millions of years. You can see some stalagmites, stalactites, and spectacular formations called curtains or draperies that look like folded curtains.

Another interesting fact about Postojna Cave is that it’s also home to the endemic olm, which is the largest troglodytic amphibian in the world.

Stunning places created by nature are always my favourite. What about you, do you like visiting caves?
