Ok, here we go. This one is easy; there are a lot of poll questions! But, because I am tired of the people that read, vote, and don’t bother to comment, I took away the No option on all questions. Based on feedback in the comments of the previous post (below), I’ve added two reporting comment options. I promise this is a straightforward poll; vote the ones that you feel are important. If it is all but one of the comments options, go ahead and vote for as many as you want. IF you don’t think something is noteworthy, go ahead and skip the poll question. As is always the case, I will send this to the admin team around noon on Monday, or whenever my calls let up, and I can take lunch!
I did want to layout the comment issue. In the past, when you reported a comment, the comments would be taken off the post. The thing is those comments were sometimes moderated back, but then you could request they be taken off, and they would be, but that process took 5-10 days. Now the report button appears to be a button to nowhere, and if you want or need so meets removed, you have to wait 5-10 days. The admin team is removing posts that have questionable or unkind content. I know of at least three posts that were removed for that fact. But to be clear, there are two comment options for reporting comments in the poll pick the one you think fits best, and if you have a 3rd option, please let me know in the comments!
No one should ever send you a PM telling you that you need to comment on their posts.
If you have additional thoughts on changes or better ways the changes detailed here could be done, please add them in the comments. I do send the admins a link to the post and also a copy of the poll results. But they have the link so if they choose they can go and read the comments. I think everyone in the community agrees that the number one thing is to get posts moderated faster.
There was an excellent question asked by Norman about new users. His point was that without new content creators, the site would continue to decline. I am not asking that one as a poll question – please weigh in by commenting on the thought…

I tend to go for facts; ‘great site’ is not a fact. Saying, “The site pays 1c for every comment on your article’ is what I listen to
facts are a slippery slope. If something is perceived as a fact, it isn’t always a fact.
What I base my decisions on is empirical, tested, and verified data. A fact for one person is simply the belief of another person, and sadly can also be a fairy tale for a third.
When a person can give facts; that is as I did in a previous post … I am more likely to believe then those who talk in hyperbole.
Tell me a site is great or always pays is translated by me; :This site is a rip
Tell me that you have been writing for two years and have been paid every other month suggests the site might be legit.
If you said to me … Why do you shop at GF instead of HL I could give a number of sentences which contain facts.
i do get the anger – it comes through clearly. This site we have, has certainly not always been the kindest or best.
but it has stayed afloat for longer than many like this do.
I am not being angry, I agree with the point you made; that is the 100% supporters and 100% detractors are ignored, and those who give facts without attitude are far more believable.

The only way you can judge anything is to get rid of the mindless sheep… those who support 100% those who attack 100% and focus on those who have no bias.
sadly we all have bias. But I do understand your point. I post these posts specifically because there are two sides.
we have authors on this site that don’t treat other authors well. They need to be removed.
We have authors that carry on great conversations (like this one) that need to be encouraged!
There are authors who try really hard to help the rest of us! they also deserve encouragement.
But the fact is, the site has lower views.
The site has fewer new posts.
We have to get the community moving again.
I agree with what you’ve posted. There are (or is) a horrible racist poster on this site who will chase anyone. That this person can post suggests to me, if not others, that the owners may be of a similar persuasion.
I would think a lot of people left this site due to the ‘tricks’ of the owner. I have logged on, checked my dashboard at X hour and seen I have $8,26 then in a few hours I have $4.34..
Not everyone is accustomed or willing to become accustomed to this kind of scam
they have redone the rate of viril payout three times in the last two years. I’ve seen my 8 dollars go to 4 dollars all three times.
It is harder to earn now I agree.

that is tough, and that is a very valid reason to avoid the site
One of the things a long dead site, Factoidz, did (during it’s good time) was put the best stuff on the front page. This brought in users who would read and then try to write at the highest standard.
New stuff was at the bottom, IF it was good, but what anyone who knows anything about views would realised, putting the latest crap on the front page, and burying the good stuff is burying the site.
HubPages does that today.
I would love that, but here, they do that in the trending and most commented areas.

Doc, frankly, all the points you raise are valid ones but as ever before, my main gripe is not being able to edit typos from my new posts and to update old posts when new information has been discovered.
yeah, i would like to edit typos as well, had one in a title the other day that is driving me nuts!
We definitely need more people. New ones joining or old ones returning, both would be great.

Best of luck. I hope you succeed. It is very important that new posts are approved as soon as possible. I miss drafts the most. I haven’t had any problems with comments, messages or anything else so far.
i would be shocked if you had issues in either comments or drafts. you are a much nicer person than I am.
I wouldn’t agree that I’m a nicer person. Each person is beautiful in their own way. You know a lot more about this site so you can engage in a lot of conversations.
But I am also more likely to call a jackal a jackal. Or to point out that someone causes their own issues on this site.
So I get in trouble often!

I’ve gotten used to the ‘WTF’ option because Virily from my standpoint doesn’t get a lot of traffic. Hell, Yelp has a ‘Lol’ selection that used to drive me friggin crazy when none of my reviews had nothing humorous about them. Back in the day I gave no fucks about the selections and what people thought about my reviews, but once I started putting thought into my reviews it bothered me because Yelp is used by many. I’m ok with voting the ‘WTF’ out, but I could honestly careless if its there or not. With the flaws we already have, which are embarrassing as a writer, I have grown to not care anymore.

I honestly believe that new content creators would benefit the site. I’m thinking on the lines of different topics out there for exposure to the site, as well as energy. I try not to be so one sided with what I share, so I put out different things that I’am very passionate about and experience as a person. Back when Virily had the referral system, I always tried to recruit users that brought topics this site could use.

I can stand outside of the Supermarket and discuss how to fix the problems, how to make things better, etc. But I don’t own the Supermarket and the Owners don’t listen to me.
I have never had much success either.
If you don’t own the site, if you have no links with the owners, making suggestions is a waste of key strokes.

I have readers that have told me they will no longer read Virily articles because of the ads.
I have had (recently) other readers tell me they won’t read the articles here because of the comments.
it is frustrating.
Most users realise that there is no moderation, there is only delay to prevent a writer being published and earning.
People don’t like to be tricked and played with. When they go to other sites they tell the world of their experiences here.
i’ve read good and bad reviews of Virily by many authors. our experiences are bound to what we put in and what we get out.
If a person writes a review such as; “I joined X in January and it took me until March to get my first pay out and then I got my next in May, and expect to reach the threshold in July as I am paid for contribution, views and comments”… I know this is a real person.
When I read “X is a GREAT site, I always got paid!” I know this is the owner/admin or a user PAID to write this.”
Simply put, I am treated very well at Supermarket A, I don’t know if you will be treated well. I can only talk about me. That is because I am honest. If Supermarket A gave me lots of freeness to run around and drag people in….
i find your point interesting. I strongly disagree, however. I know for a fact that there are many whose reviews are always negative.
Only the most positive and most negative people review virtually everything (That is a fact, published by a Harvard Review study). so if only the bad and good reviews are published it is short-sighted to throw out the good (they were paid for).
I suspect it is more critical to find out what those who aren’t complaining, and those that aren’t lauding have to say. that would be closer to the overall truth.
Absolutely agree. I think, sadly, that indifference has overwhelmed. Maybe in early days there were people who cared, now,..?

we have submitted 14 asks, the have done 8, we do at least have a small impact!

Put it like this; I would publish at 8 am, do something, then at 8:30 return and there were five or more articles published, so I would publish again.
I could have my article spaced because there were many users.
Now, no. I think at least 50% have been lost. And the lowering of pay won’t be pulling in new ones.

the difference here being, you as a content creator are the provider of the fresh food sold by the supermarket so they would have some need to listen to yoU!!!!!
In my life I have learned to say things like; “X is very nice to me..” This is because some of the people/places who are nice to me are rather terrible to others. In RL people are usually very nice to me.
i find that people are a mixed bag. I have learned there are some it is best to stay away from, and some it is best to run away from.
But there are many I take great delight in talking to!
This is why I don’t talk generalities when it comes to the relationship between a user and a site.
There was a chap who was part of the creation of a site called Factoidz whose ‘life’s work’ it was to go to every other site, every message board and scream about how great the site was and attack every single person who disparaged it.
He played being a user just like us, but then, when he was kicked to the pavement he revealed the truth in detail. How he was paid to go to sites, i.e. Hubpages, i.e. Wikinut, etc and attack those who said what was the truth about Factoidz.

i would honestly doubt that the admin team was that sneaky here. But I do remember that issue a few years ago.
If you read the article the chap wrote (and I am using his article BUT it was someone else who told me pretty much the same thing back in 2008) it isn’t difficult to notice that a real person wouldn’t be so gushy about a site the don’t own.
