Off Year for the Bluebirds

Bluebirds are still visiting my yard and their house. But they have not been allowed to start a family yet this year. The robins are busy on their second family in the pine tree behind the bluebird house. I keep thinking the robins will be done with their little families soon.

The bluebirds will sit on the house and look at me. Or at least I think they are looking at me for help. Help them start their family. Run the robins away. But I cannot do that. I try to have a yard for many birds. Hopefully the time will not run out for the bluebirds to have a family.

For nine years I have been providing the bluebird house in the backyard. I hope this will not be the year for no bluebird babies. Hoping they will not give up and go somewhere else. Many of you know what the bluebird mean to me. But it is nature so I will take what I get.

  1. Beautiful shot Carol. I was at my terrace with my wife watching our mango tree. I spotted a beautiful and exotic bird on top of the tree. I had never seen this one before. But I did not carry my mobile phone and so missed taking a picture. You are motivating me to capture such moments.

    • Thank you, he was looking right at the camera. This is the male with the bright blue color. That is great, you have motivation to always have your camera with you. If you get a photo, post it here and I can help you try to identify the bird.

  2. Carol, honestly this has nothing to do with you. It is simply the reality of nature. You are a great bird caretaker.

Sorry, but there is still a slim hope left!

    • I am not giving up Doc. We still have about a two month window, believe it or not. I have had bluebirds in July.

I will stop talking about them for now on here, and move on but I will not give up. Just frpm what I have seen in the past. There is always hope.

    • Not when the robins chase them away every time they come to the bluebird house for even in the yard. The robins are at least twice their size. They are threatened by them. But the robin babies are about 8 days old, they will leave in a few days. There is hope, still about two months left.

    • I try really hard but it seems I can’t help them right now. No fear to leave just fear to start a family. The robins are a lot bigger than the bluebird.

  3. I want and I hope you will not abandon them. You so much enjoy them and take care of them. I think they will appreciate all this and will give you babies this year too. Carol does not lose hope.
