We use different types of leaves in our cuisine to prepare dishes
Leaves have flavours each being unique The turmeric leaves have such flavour that one does not require to add any other flavour in the recipe. The other leaves we use are from the jack fruit, fig, teak trees and the banana plant.
That gentle flavour from these leaves adds to the taste of these dishes which are normally sweet.
In the photo you see jack fruit delight covered in fig tree leaves.
The leaves are ofcourse discarded before eating.

We only use cabbage and grape leaves.
I know about cabbage and those leaves I assume are eaten But what about grape leaves Are they eaten too?
I have never done this by covering food with turmeric leaves but I think it is a great idea..We don’t grow turmeric in New Zealand
Not just turmeric but some other leaves as well
We use grape leaves to prepare sarmale.
Do you discard the leaves as we do?
We use only cabbage leaves for food preparation, dear friend
You eat those cabbage leaves but these leaves are used to put the stuff in to steam. After steaming the leaves are discarded.
We eat these leaves … these are sour herbaceous heads into which we wrap minced meat … here we call it sarma
We use this leaf to prepare a cuisine in my country and like you said, it adds a distinct aroma and taste to the dish.
Some countries have yet to know about this. May be my post will encourage them (lol)
Lettuce, Cabbage, banana, turmeric, pandan. But I love the pandan leaves the most.
Some of the leaves that you have listed are edible but the leaves that I have listed are discarded.
the only leaves I’ve used for food are cabbage leaves. I was once interested in foods stuffed in vine leaves but discovered that even though I had someone give me large grape leaves the dish did not work out like it should have.
The leaves should be quite thick and strong so that the stuff does not come out while steaming.
There is a dish here that uses taro leaves for the wrapping.
I do not know what taro leaves are. We use quite a few
The only leaves I am aware of are bay leaves.
Bay leaves are treated as a condiment but these leaves are used to fill in stuff that is steamed
We seldom use leaves in this manner in American food. The one I like is stuffed cabbage. It’s meat, rice, spices and tomato sauce mixed together and wrapped in a cabbage leaf tied with string and boiled.
You eat the stuffed cabbage but these leaves that we use here are for filling the stuff that is steamed and the leaves discarded.
Some people (me) eat the cabbage but others (my wife and kids) don’t.
No , this is the first I see Indeed
No , this is the first time I see Indeed . Well if you talking about Khari , and Biryani , than Yes
Those leaves are consumed but there these leaves are discarded. They are used to place the stuff for steaming.
