Did you celebrate independance day today? I realize that not all of my fellow Virilians are from the US and may not wish to observe this day. I also realize that Virilian is extremely awkward term (although the proper form) and should be replaced with anything better, if we can find something better

I am from the United States and I do celebrate this day with a picnic or go to a town festival and stay till they put off fireworks. When I was younger we used to with sparklers and firecrackers and a few others like snakes ( a small piece of charcoal that when lit would expand like a snake. That is about it.
I remember snakes. like a slow motion boredom firework…
I’m not from the United States so I did not celebrate. Can I ask you which country you are (I have been guessing for some time, but I can not guess ?)
currently in the US, born in Taiwan…
Thank you so much … my guess was in the right direction
you guessed that I was born in Taiwan and then banished for a crime that I didn’t commit and sought refuge in the states? is it that obvious?
Excuse me, I did not know that. I’m sorry for you. I was guessing whether you were from the United States, but I was more inclined to be from Asia.
July 4th is a funny holiday. The declaration of independence was signed on the 2nd. The constitution wasn’t signed and in place for 10 years (we existed under the articles of confederation for the first 10 years.)
I have been around the world. I have been to many countries. I celebrate those who fought so that the rest of us could be free.
Funny day though…
a lie, a legend and a likelyhood make a holiday, eh?
I do often wonder why it was placed the way it was. The world is full of made-up holidays and made up celebrations.
The celebrations that each of us find important, are the ones that matter to us.
4th of July was one my dad loved, me, my dogs are scared of fireworks. I do like getting a day off though…
most holidays are there to hijack pagan celebrations, but I seriously doubt that applies here…
the ritual of freedom?
Guy Fawkes once tried to use fireworks in London. He got in trouble for that….
By the way, exceptionally badass warrior able to hoist a 1200 pound SAM housing!
she could be a cyborg, or this piece could be unrealistic…
if you are unable to suspend belief, you never go to the movies!
Hope you had a relaxing day my brother. We had barbecue ribs, and corn on the cob, and some cole slaw.I stay Keto even during holidays.
you don’t ditch a lifestyle for a holiday
Well I did cheat a little during Stacy’s weekend. I ate a small piece of red velvet cake. I even ate garlic bread and still lost weight.
garlic bread- the achillies’ heel of carb free diets…
Hope you had a Happy 4th day. Fireworks are Maya’s(my dog) nightmare!
sadly, it is the apocalypse for many pets. I had a dog that had to be on valium, and still she shook each time…
No celebrations on my side of the Pond! And I didn’t realise how sensitive veterinary surgeons were to fireworks!
you don’t celebrate uppity yanks day?
Congratulations for the holiday, dear friend …. we had a normal day
so did I, but a bunch of jerks lit fireworks all day long
For the holiday, almost there must be fireworks, my friend
Happy Independence Day! No fireworks or BBQ today. We will do the BBQ thing tomorrow and see fireworks (I think) on Sunday.
I hope you have a great time when you do
Happy 4th to you my friend. No fireworks or bbq here but I am a proud American.
I was a proud American until 2016, hoping to be one again next November…
