Well, the good news is that we currently have four options to share Virily posts. The bad news is that as of April 4 (and in some cases earlier) Google + is closing. It is closing as Niume did. The site itself gone forever and all the contents currently there, deleted over time. They, Google has said that it may be 4 to 6 months before all content is gone. This is only the Google Property Google + Google + was Google’s Facebook competitor and honestly never really took off the way Facebook did. Google + is a great platform and offers integration with Google Hangouts, Google Voice, Gmail, and other Google services. The other services are not going away.
Today here on Virily, Google + is the fourth sharing option after you publish or when you read the posts of others. Since it is going away, there is the potential that the Virily site will choose a new 4th option. I do not claim that the admins will read this, nor was asked by anyone to post this. I decided on my own based on a conversation with Alex Ledante that it would be nice to have a 4h option that would replace Google + as a social sharing option. I will include several in the poll, and that I missed, please share them in the comments. I promise I will post the poll results here on Virily and also to the Facebook group. Please understand the disclaimer; this is wishful thinking on my part.
In the comments for this post, please let me know the other sites you are using in the social posting and blogging world. Another option would be a WordPress publication. As a reminder, I am still collecting data, but so far for the majority of posts and posters there is a significantly greater impact from Twitter than the other three options today (Google +, Pinterest and Facebook). Finally also in the comments let me know if you are using Google + now and how is it that you use Google +. The reality of influence is we can influence team Vrily to pick something that we are all comfortable with. But the only way that words are if we present a clear and concise message to the Admins.
Join in and let’s see if we can help them pick a Social Sharing Site that we like!

You did not offer up Flipboard as a choice or the fairly new Camooni. There is also the lesser know site I Heart It. I promote my stuff on FB, Twitter, Pinterest, Flipboard, Tumblr, Mix and Camooni. I have never heard of Patron.
I don’t like or use flipboard anymore. I had not heard of Camooni will check it out.
You know, looked forward to this post, cause this question is also important for me. As I wrote before, my social networks № 1: Twitter & FB, № 2 – Tumblr, Pinterest, № 3 – Flipboard, Mix. Also some of my friends from Google+ offer such variant as https://mewe.com/
It looks like Tumblr is the number one choice of the community so far!

I mostly use Google+ and Twitter, but rarely I use Facebook
Thank you! I think Twitter is the top social site for blogging (at least on Virily) right now.
I had entirely forgotten about tumblr. I even have an account if it isn’t deleted… I use g+ and pinterest to promote my work. I also use fb, but hardly at all anymore
I am almost exclusively FB and Twitter for promotion. I see little to no traction with others. I use Pinterest and Mix and my “Niume” backups. I used to use flipbook but i just don’t like it.
BTW, thanks for taking the torch on this- my attempt fell flat on its face…
You are rowing the boat Alex. Thanks for the help and support!
you took me on board when my boat sank, rowing yours is the least I can do
I suspect your boat lies just beneath the surface of mine. Not sunk, but ready to rise again.
I find that driving change through comments on Virily is less than useless. There are so many people who don’t have conversations, they post one reaction for the Viril and move on.
Even with a community consensus, there’s no guarantee that the admins would adopt that solution. That having been said, we can’t know if this will be effective until we try…
My first boss in IT many years ago used to say at many meetings:
Do you, Check, the boxes?
Or do you check the boxes?
That is the problem with online communities often. Which one is the person actually doing…
Critical thinking and analytical skills are sadly undervalued in the modern world…
My old boss was an ex-IBMer. He was the funniest person to work for. I left the company because I got an unbelievable offer. But we stayed friends and still communicate!
I am still friends with my old boss at Symantec as well. He’s the man that taught me how to play go…
Go is a great game. I prefer Mah Jong myself, but I lived in Southeast Asia for a time, and got addicted to the game then!
how they love Mah Jong in SEA
I know that G+ will close but also haven’t thought of a suitable replacement.
I use G+ as I use Mix that you have referred to, I have a Tumblr account but I have never been active, others but now also inactive are Minds. Both for Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest, I have also stopped to share there for a long time because it is also not active. I understand that it’s important that there be a substitute for G + but I don’t have an idea for that.
My goal is to do the right things. Right now that is us as the writing community making positive suggestions to the admin team!
I agree with you that finding a substitute for G + is important and useful for this community, especially so that there are additional views from outside, and that is the right thing, but I don’t know much about other social media sites that are strong and have many users, while I am not familiar with everything you have mentioned in the question except Mix. Apart from that, one of the strongest social media and a competitor from Facebook, especially in my country is Instagram, maybe that’s what I can propose.
Ergo having the discussion. There are positives and negatives to all the social sites. Finding what the community feels works best is where I want to end up! Thanks, Albert as always for your influence and contribution!
So far I feel comfortable here, maybe because I can devote my thoughts more broadly to a more global community, which I don’t seem to feel on social media. Indeed, however, there are always positive and negative sides.
There is a great application, https://tweepsmap.com/dash/snapshotmap that let’s you see where your tweets are impacting globally!
Thank you, Doc. I will check it out soon. Are you the site user too?
In fact I am. I like to know my global impact!
