ballads to metal tend to cause people to jump. I was an overnight DJ in college. my job was to help the folks working overnight stay awake!
my favorite thing was the 3 am request. We did it every night.
the caller was allowed to pick the next four songs we played. We had some really odd combinations.

you would get things like Eagles, then Harry Chapin, followed by Ozzie Black Sabbath followed or ending with CCR (Credence Clearwater Revival).
it got to be a competition eventually how far could they make the DJ walk. The back wall had the records by band, alphabetized. Sometimes i had to read a lot of notes to find the music!
Interesting work at the time. Really, I can imagine how I would request songs that would keep you busy pacing back and forth.

I am one of those few people here who love heavy metal music, therefore I like both versions of this song but I prefer the original electric one because it’s energetic and melodic at the same time and it has great lyrics and a powerful message as well . As a fact, it’s a true heavy metal anthem from a legendary band I have been listening to for a long time and I will keep on doing it because once heavy metal gets in your bloodstream, you are contaminated with it forever!

I totally agree with your opinion that the original version of this song is more impressive and powerful. Like you too, the songs from this group are still always included in my playlist of songs, and of course, coz I’ve been contaminated!
It’s great to hear that I’m not the only Virilian who loves this exciting, but sadly underrated and often misunderstood type of music. Long live heavy metal and great music in general, regardless of its genre!
