While out on the deck filling the bird feeder for the blue jays, I noticed a bluebird perched on my poplar tree. Snapped a quick photo before he flew away.
The bird bath is frozen but I will go back out soon to freshen it up. I am sure that was the reason for her visit.
I just started seeing these Bluebirds of Happiness again in the backyard. They enjoy a nice splash in the water. So happy to see this little female bluebird.

Thank you for gently always reminding us to watch the wonders of nature around us unfold.
You are so welcome my friend. Take care.
Well knowing what bluebirds mean to you, the appearance is more than happenstance.
Funny thing you mentioned the bluebird of happiness. In the IT consulting world an unexpected project is called a Bluebird.
I believe you are right. I never knew that was a thing in IT. Interesting.
Bluebirds are rare, projects that are ready to go, delivered to you as the sales person but they are never expected!
Sort of like the real thing, Bluebirds are rare in many yards.
yup in the recruiting world they are always looking for Purple Squirrels!
How lovely to enjoy the Bluebird again
Made my day for sure Pam.
I am glad that they blue bird is still hanging around and bring you some happiness.
Has been a few weeks since seeing one.
You got a great capture there. Do birds come to visit you even in the winter?
I got lucky, just happened to be out on the deck. Yes that is why I feed and water them year round. I ahed different species in the winter.
I would actually love to get a bigger bird bath for this reason.
My bird bath is pretty big and designed for birds of all sizes . It is tapered so that the little ones can bathe in the shallow. Fun to see them do that.
A few days ago there were peacocks up there. Such huge birids!!!
I always enjoy nature in my backyard.
Lovely capture! Do you still fill the bird bath with water once it starts getting cold?
Thanks, yes I keep it filled year round. Some birds, like the bluebirds only visit during the winter just for the water. Many do not take the time to keep water out. I will clean ice out every day sometimes for weeks for the birds.
Do they only come to drink it or do they still take a bath? We have never had a bird bath, but we put some water for them to drink if they need. I have seen them “bathing” in the snow, but never in the water we have put.
Both, and I have wondered how they tolerate the cold water, feathers I am sure, but many birds visit during the winter. I have photos of the birds splashing I will share again. Too cool!
I guess they know what they are doing, but bathing in the cold water seems scary.
Wonderful shot. The birds are accustomed to receive from you everything need in a “serious” times.
Thanks, I got lucky with this surprise! I have to agree with you. I love taking care of them.
All afternoon I sat under a tree, looking at the sky, waiting for birds or insects or whatever, no one visited, except the wind and neighbors. Why won’t the bluebirds visit me?
The bluebirds rarely visit me any more Albert. It makes me very sad. This one bird is all I saw today.
It’s better to have one than none, dear friend.
I do appreciate what I get for sure. Thank you.
You have a nice collection of different birds … the crows have driven us all out … all the birds have disappeared otherwise I don’t know where … I see only crows and sparrows
I never know what I will see in my backyard. I hope you can see beautiful birds soon.
Today I noticed the first birds Titmouse on the yard.
They were not taking the nuts from the feeder yet.
What time of the year is it in your world Robin?
Wao this is beautiful picture. thanks for shearing this good job
And I thank you for your kind words.
You are always very kind, I appreciate that.
