Black and White Friday – Pletna

Pletna is a traditional boat carrying passengers around Lake Bled. You will only see this boat in Bled.Pletna is made by the locals and is known only in Bled, and its origin goes back to 1590. It can be recognized from far away, as it has a colorful canvas roof that protects from the sun and other weather phenomena. Pletno is managed by a knitter, which is still a highly regarded profession that cannot be performed by anyone. During the reign of Maria Theresa, ownership rights to the plow were granted to farmers who were granted less arable land. The name has since been passed down from generation to generation, which is why knitwear has remained in families for centuries. There are a total of 23 knits in Lake Bled
