This is a vehicle that can go on land or water. It is run around Rotorua by “Duck Tours!” and here it is coming up the wharf at Lake Okareka.
It is rather like a bus that can go on the road or at sea. I really don’t know how it works.
If you should go to Rotorua in New Zealand maybe you could try a ride with other tourists and see for yourself.
When they came back onto land, the passengers got out a device and blew into it. It sounded like, “Quack!” like a Duck. I guess these people had a lot of fun this day.
Great idea, Never seen this before
Thanks so much Witty Feeds…..I agree with you
I was on a package tour of New Zealand and have been to Rotorua but this option was not there.
Possibly not, but I saw these vehicles in the Rotorua lakes first, and the advertising is on the side of the vehicle. There are many activities in Rotorua many are not aware of and the main attractions is the thermal activity.
Thanks so much Grace for the visit
Woow, that’s a cool idea. I’ve never seen this before.
I like the idea too, and a fun day out.
Thanks Vidocka for your kind comment.
Great idea, my friend … I know that the army uses it … … I have not seen this in tourism
Well, always a first time to turn something into a fun activity..Thanks Lado.
Surely it’s a good experience driving on that beautiful lake.
Thanks Robin, I have not been in this vehicle but I think it would be fun
It sure seems like a fun ride, thanks for showing it here!
Thanks Suny, glad you like it.
Ducks, we call them in the US. My number one rule when getting on one is make sure you know where the life preservers are.
Shockingly a vehicle made for land and water doesn’t do well when water is rough.
Thanks for that Doc, I don’t know much about them but on a mild day, they are OK, I think the operators have to have safety equipment and training on them. However, accidents can happen…I hope not on these.
These are okay in lakes as well where there is no chance of high tides or disturbed water.
One just sank last summer on a lake in Branson Missouri. Lake, river, bay or ocean no boat is guaranteed anything.
I agree, the visitors should have their life jackets on all time even if they are expert swimmers.
Thanks Suny, that is so true…..Im not sure how Duck tours operate but I am sure they have some safety measures.
The operators have to have safety equipment but, the issue is it doesn’t have to be visible.
when you get on a boat, know where the life jackets are (best if they are on you!)
Yes safety equipment has to be visible and safety checks need to be done on a regular basis. I hope no one died in this lake
I’ve never seen anything like that before, but I would love a trip on one of these. I would imagine it’s a very enjoyable experience.
I agree with you too, Coffee Queen, thanks so much.
Thanks Indexer……………
For the first time I hear about such a vehicle. Indexer mentions in his comment that they were originally intended for military use. But the idea is wonderful now to be enjoyed by tourists.
So true Elenka, turn something once used for war for entertainment instead. Great idea.
These vehicles were originally designed for military use but have found another role in many places around the world as tourist boats.
Yes, I think they were used by the military. They serve well for tourism.
You can see how they would be ideally suited for a service such as the Marines.
Yes so true, Indexer. I think we avoid wars we can have fun with these vehicles as long as it is safe all round. Thanks
