“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
― John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America
Here’s another photo I took during the first snowfall. The snow has already melted, but photos are here to remind us of those beautiful moments. You might also want to take a look at my frozen roses.See more of my photos here.

Beautiful picture, With us, this weekend is due to half a meter of snow … I do not like winter
I’m sorry to hear that! We are waiting for it to snow again here, but nothing so far.
Very beautiful picture. Looks lovely, I have never been in snow
Thank you so much, Pamela!
Surely a very nice shot…the snow made the rose look like edible lol 😛
Yes, like sugar coated!
I love that image. And you also taught me something here, but it’s a secret.
I’m so happy to hear that you learnt something from my post! 🙂
The photo is just unique
Thank you so much, Elenka!
What an amazing image. Both the rose struggling to be open, to be free and the snow, trying to cover everything!
Thank you so much for your kind words!

Thank you so much for your kind words, Anastasia!
That poor rose – just about to open spectacularly …. a unique and beautiful photo!
I had lot’s of snow growing up but after I was twenty it never snowed where I moved. I like it and miss it. We often tell the joke though that the thing we love the most about winter is watching it on TV from California.
Thank you so much! Haha, yes, winter is always better on tv!
Living in Southwest Louisiana it seldom snows.
I see! A little bit of snow from time to time can be fun. 🙂
If I never see another snowflake in my life, it will still be too soon…
Haha, this sounds a little bit harsh!
This photograph is positively delicious! It is so sweet and inviting, as if it is inviting one to listen to a story. The crystals are so clear, and like a crown with wonderful secrets. Love it.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Beautiful photograph….I love the rose with snow on it.
It does snow here in the winter…but I am not a fan! Seeing pictures of it is as close as I want to get lol…
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your opinion! I love the snow in the beginning of the winter, but then I get tired of it if it lasts for too long.
The rose looks perfect with snow on it.
Thank you so much, LaJenna!
How lovely this rose is in the snow. A sign of hope and perseverance for sure.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Carol!
Beautiful photos. Ellie. Just by looking at the snowy roses like that I already feel the cold, let alone touch it? let alone in it?
Thank you so much! Snow can be really fun, but then we get tired of it.
Yes, I understand, Ellie. Many friends say so.
