These Wallabies are in the Auckland Zoo, and they hop on their hind legs.
There are some Wallabies running wild in New Zealand in various places but I have heard about them not seen them.
There were Wallabies in Tasmania Australia and I am disappointed I did not see one Wallaby.
Maybe next time?
Anyway, these have a nice home and good food in the Auckland Zoo.
Looking at their fur it looks a little patchy, do they shed during different seasons?
they do look like little kangaroos
Kangaroos are twice as large…
and they have a different anatomy, but they look so similar they must be related
Such amazing animals!
Thanks so much Ellie glad you like the Wallabies
Super shot. They are very similar to a kangaroo.
A Kangaroo is a larger Wallaby
Love seeing your animals photos!
Thanks so much Carol, glad you like them
Sorry you missed the Wallabies, perhaps another time?
Yes, when we can go again perhaps..Thanks Ghostwriter.
Well, I had no idea you had some in the wild there. Love these cuties. Great shot Pam. The roos favorite cousin. 🙂
Thanks so much Kim, I believe Governor Grey brought some animals from Australia here. The Wallabies are probably considered a pest, but I don’t see them here.
Cute looking Wallabies. They look much better than the huge kangaroos.
I agree, the kangaroos look a bit dangerous to me. These are just cute. I know they can probably give you a good kick or punch just the same, but they can’t be as bad as the larger version. lol
Agree with you Kim. A friend of the family was impaled by the tail of a large Kangaroo, doesn’t pay to mess with them. Happened a long time ago in Australia
Thanks Dawn, the Kangaroos are dangerous.
great picture – you should be the official auckland zoo photog!!!!
That’s nice Doc, I went to the Zoo last year for a basic photography course…Still got to refresh what I know.
that is awesome. One of my goals for this coming year is to take a photography class!
Yeah , these are indeed Kangaroos
Smaller Kangaroos are Wallabies..Thanks Witty Feeds
Why are you calling them Wallabies. They look like kangaroos.
Wallabies are just small Kangaroos, the large ones are huge
Very nice picture, dear Pamela … aren’t they kangaroos?
No Wallabies, the name is based on the size, the two types large Kangaroos, small Wallabies…
But that’s it …. thanks for the kind explanation, dear Pamela
