We were driving back to Auckland from Rotorua and I saw a side road going towards Lake Karapiro, so I took my chance to find out what was there.
Really Lake Karapiro is part of the Waikato river but it is a lake that is flowing as part of the river.
There is Karapiro Dam and also further south Arapuni Dam.
The thumbnail looks back to the main road. On the left is the main highway.
It is nature untouched and not manicured.
