A strange caterpillar appeared on my Swan plants in the garden. It was like but unalike the caterpillar on the left of this photo.
I watched this caterpillar grow and turn into a Chrysalis, and this is the result. This Butterfly is known as the “Lesser Wanderer”, some of them are blown across the Tasman sea from Australia and end up in New Zealand.
I let it go as you can see, it is a beautiful butterfly

unusual to see this butterfly but it is very much like a monarch butterfly in the way it grows……the Lesser wanderer
