This came from a strange caterpillar that looked like a Monarch caterpillar but wasn’t I took it in and watched it grow.
It is related to the Monarch Butterfly but it has emigrated by the equinox winds from Australia to New Zealand over the Tasman sea. I honestly don’t know how bird or butterfly does it. It takes 4 days to travel by sea to Australia from New Zealand.
Im glad I took the butterfly in.
Beautiful picture of a wonderful butterfly dear Pamela
Thanks so much Lado, pleased you like it.
With great pleasure dear friend
Thanks so much Tasartcraft, glad you like it. After this photo I let it go.
what a great picture and good on you for nurturing this glorious creature!
Thanks Doc, love this beautiful butterfly but you have to let them go, butterflies love flying
That is a truism. Butterflies are free.
A beautiful butterfly, I have not seen it yet. It is really an interesting question of how to survive such a long journey. Looks very vulnerable.
With the white roundabouts on his body, it makes him like polka-dot butterflies.
Nature is amazing right! same with the hummingbirds, they travel thousands of miles each year, then they return, to the same feeders most of the time.
…. gorgeous butterfly by the way, never seen one like this before.
