In case you missed my first post in this 365 Photos Challenge you can see it here: Deck Sunset # 1.
Starting on day two of the photo challenge. I thought I would only be posting sunsets. During the winter, that is usually all I can catch a good picture of. However a few minutes ago, to my surprise, this male Cardinal visited my deck feeder. I was able to carefully open the glass doors wide enough for the camera lens and he allowed his photo to be taken. He actually posed for me. I love these birds. They are a bright red. When it snows, they are incredibly beautiful. There is an old saying that “when a Cardinal appears in your yard, it is a visitor from heaven”. I choose to believe that. My Dad loved seeing these birds in his yard. We always talked about them. He called them Red birds. And that they are! Always love the visits from the “Red birds”.
Here is my lucky catch of the beautiful Cardinal. He is holding a sunflower seed in his mouth you can barely see it. Too funny.
Tune in tomorrow, again, you never know what I may capture from my deck. Have a great evening!
And be sure to check out Art’s rules and guidelines for the challenge in this post 365 Photos Challenge.
This is a beautiful photo. I love the bright red and can only imagine how pretty it is when snowing.
Thank you so much Della. They are beautiful.
I wasn’t aware the Cardinals were considered psychopomps, but it shouldn’t surprise me at all…
Yes indeed, for al long as I can remember, if only you believe!
In my neck of the woods it was whippoorwills, but to each their own. Cardinals are way more classy
I have never heard that, I love the song of the whippoorwills.
That song was actually what made folks think they were psychopomps to begin with
Another great photo for the challenge! Pretty bird!
Thank you very much!
Ive heard this before. Good to see your day two, it looks like a Christmas card! Lovely
Thanks Kim, a favorite bird for sure.

I said, you don’t need to go far to take great photos, but I did not expect that you don’t even haveto go out the door. Beautiful capture, Carol!
I know, I thought about you when I got this photo! Such a surprise. And it was cold outside, so it worked out perfect! Thank you.
Apparently, the second day is your lucky day, Carol. You got a good capture, male Cardinal!
Thanks Albert, I was so very excited to see this winged visitor. 🙂
Looks like it’s another miracle that comes to you!
I definitely believe it is. And so… it is! 🙂
