If you are planning to give a try making an oil-based paint. You will need these materials such as primed canvas, brushes, linseed oil (mixed to oil paint), turpentine (for cleaning brushes). You can use coloured pencil instead of pencil for sketching the image to paint first. Colour wheel is advisable for beginners who are not familiar with colour mix. You need also the easel stand to hold the canvas. Palette knife for mixing oil colours or scraping paint in the canvas should be needed as well. You may have any convenient mixing palette board, it can either be a glass, plastic, or disposable paper ( sold at art shops).
There is no such rule in the application of colours it depends on the style, skill, and ability of an artist or the type of painting. Painting techniques can vary from what kind of artist you are whether a realist or an abstract painter. Mostly in oil painting others may directly apply the paint in the canvas, and some will have to mix the colours first on the palette board and produce the desired tone before painting on the canvas. Cotton rugs and tissue paper towel are needed in wiping the brush after each colour application. Afterwards painting brush is cleaned with turpentine.
Those are uncomplicated procedures advised by Ms. Josie Vergara, the artist who made the “three boats” oil painting you see on this blog. I am her avid fan since I saw her paintings. Her paintings are truly magnificent.
Hello.
I’m a little confused.I was in the commentary to say that my image looks like the impressionist.
So I entered the name of the author and found the same text as in your post.https://steemit.com/painting/@leebag/can-you-make-oil-based-painting

I am sort of art limited. I see beauty, but it escapes my ability to capture. I think my eye to hand is more of an abstraction engine than art creation.
Awesome post though!
