The Chalup family
Total distribution. A type of Old World that breeds in Europe, Africa, and o. Madagascar, Central and South Asia, the Philippines, New Guinea and Australia. Europe’s birds winter on the southwest coast of the Mediterranean Sea in Africa. The total population in Europe and the Mediterranean and Black Sea basins is estimated at 22,000-36,000 pairs.
Habitats. Freshwater lakes and marshes, floodplains and oak forests, dams and dams, fish farms and fish farms. During migrations and during winter it is also found in coastal waterfalls, dams, irrigation channels.
Biology. It always nests in mixed colonies of herons, brilliant ibises, spurts and small cormorants. The nests are located in reeds or on willows and poplars. It grows 4-6 small ones that start flying from the beginning of July.
