Water lily are aquatic plants from the locvelvk family, which are rooted in the soil. Flowers and leaves grow at the end of solid, resilient stems, which in some species reach 3m length. The flowers are even more mysterious because they are closed in the morning, around midday they open up and show their beauty, they again close to the evening and even sink into the water a little. This is adaptation to insects, since these pollinators are the most lively in the afternoon. In bad weather, when it’s windy or rainy, the flowers are closed so they do not get wet. Seeds of floats float on the surface and blows water. In the past, people were using rowing roots for cooking and baking. The rootstock contains a lot of starch, glucose, tannin and alkaloids. The latter is edible only for cooked or otherwise heat-treated. Sometimes the roots were dried, ground and used to bake bread.

I am unclear on the difference between a lilly and a lotus
Thank you for your visit and nice comment, my friend….I was already asking that …. I was wondering if the lion is floating on the water while the lotus grows on the forehead over the water …. I hope I read it right
perhaps the lotus is the flower and the lily is the pad?
Even in this, there may be a difference
could be. botany isn’t my strong suit
Even my not …. I read all
They are all beautiful. I have no water around me but the local park has these.
