Does knowing bad weather is outside change with a weather station? No. Bad weather is bad weather. Micro-weather is a new interesting weather station ability. Micro-weather takes a group of hobbyists and allows them to share their stations on a map. People always ask me why do you have a weather station? Well, the easy answer is weather is variable. It changes rapidly. Now the EU weather server or the US National weather service has thousands of weather stations all around the world. But, the reality of weather is that it is variable within a storm. You see a front of clouds as you go outside. You look at the dark clouds, and you think is the storm going to hit where I am.
It isn’t just that as well, across a 300, 400-mile weather front. The temperature can vary significantly. Micro weather is the sharing of your weather information so that other people can quickly figure out what is going to impact them. As I have said a few times, it is normally 5 to 7 degrees cooler when I am in the summer than where the National Weather Service station is (it sits on the Department of Energy Campus, just down the road from us, but amid a large concrete area). In the winter, we are often 2-3 degrees cooler. The other thing that Micro-weather systems provide is knowledge. Soorma moves along the path of the wind. The jet stream shapes the wind.
As the jet stream dips down from Canada, the air gets cooler faster. You can see those temperatures and the impact on your world, by looking at a micro weather map. I am involved in three different Micro-Weather groups. I share my readings about ten times an hour. I have a neighbor that is part of one of the groups. There are about 20 total Micro-weather stations in the town in Maryland where I live. When the wind meter tells me that the wind is from the north, I check the temperatures of stations north of where I live. When the wind is from the South, I look to the south. Ic a see the temperature fluctuations and determining the impact of the storm coming.
Micro-weather is a hobby of mine. But it is also a valuable thing to protect your friends and family.
I knew, within 10 minutes of the tornado warning we had last week, where the tornado was heading, by checking the weather stations of other people in the Micro-Grid system!

OMG, this super option of a weather station is so useful!!! Especially with all modern sharp & unexpected weather changes!!!
thanks – i am a huge fan of weather hardware!!!!!
People need to check the weather because storms are popping up out of nowhere
that is very true, I always want to know what is around me as far as weather!
My knees that have arthritis are like a weatherman. They warn me when the weather will change.
my left wrist has arthritis and does the same thing~
The weather doesn’t change too much here. it either gets hotter or we get more rains and google is enough to tell us more if we need the information.
fair enough, it is a part of the world I live in. But google is enough if it fills the need!

I live in an island and most of the times travelling means crossing the sea. So, yes, we check the Accuweather. Of course, it is of no use when one is suddenly caught by a squall amidst the sea. If it is a bad one, then we just pray for God’s mercy ?
There are handheld portable small weather stations. Kestrel has one, that is incredibly good for telling you the weather exactly where you are.
We have big wind problems in our country these days. He did a lot of damage earlier this week, but tomorrow will be bad again.
Europe got hit with a big storm. Hopefully everyone is ok!!!!
It has done quite a bit of material damage so far, but the storm persists.
please stay safe! let us know when the storm is gone!
Thank you for caring. I’ll let you know when it’s done.
thank you! bad weather is always tough on people!
This would be very interesting to me. I check the weather all the time and I like to be informed about it.
it is very important I love collecting weather information!
I do keep a check on the weather because it is so unpredictable. And the tornadoes can be devastating. We had lots of straight line winds that caused some a lot of damage.
the winds are always bad news. Microweather stations share the winds and direction of the winds so you can tell exactly what is coming your way.
I always check the weather before the trip …. today even northern Europe is threatened by a tornado and in Europe where we didn’t know tornadoes … this weather is crazy
that is scary, people that don’t know tornados are usually the ones at risk.
We’ve been warned a lot all day not to go out unless it’s necessary …. we are more inland and it won’t be so bad …. the worst will be in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, in countries near the sea
Another reason for personal weather stations! sorry you guys had tough weather!
We came through really well … only one roof tile moved in my house …. elsewhere it was worse breaking down trees and discovering roofs much
i am glad to hear you are ok! I was worried.
