Well – our water source

The first thing we did after we bought the property was  to sink a well.  To our good luck the water diviner told us we will not have to dig too deep.  We struck water just about 30 feet deep.

Even in the worst summer this well has not let us down.  We have a pump to draw water and pipes are connected wherever we require water.

Despite a continued source of water we use methods to conserve it.  We have all kitchen, bathroom and wash basins waste water  directed to trees,

  1. As the city grows our water tables go down. Do don’t really have a problem as we recycle our water and collect rain water, I believe conservation is important.

    • We grew up with well water until we left our shores to seek greener pastures. We are back now in a semi rural town. There is pipe water connection available but we love our well water

    • Those must be bore wells which are sunk over 100 feet deep.

We have pits in our property to collect rain water and that water finally reaches reservoirs close by. That may not be the reservoir from where we get water but it helps the community

  2. It may come to using wells in Auckland, if they don’t create another few dams for our water supply for an increasing population. I love your way of water conservation. Excellent..
