A friend of mine that is an active member here on Virily pulled up an old story I had written last year, I had almost forgotten the post. I started looking through the comments, this was before there was a word count for comments. I also noticed that someone had down voted the post, and all the replies I had made to each comment. I then looked at a few more older stories, and the same happened in them as well.
I must of really made someone mad, lol. I mean, who would take that amount of time to go through my posts and click that down button. I bet it was someone very angry with me. When a person down votes a post of mine, I feel the opposite of offended, I think its funny. Poor down voters…

I think that no post is not so bad to downvote … in each post has invested some effort
I don’t think they should have a downvote button! But at least I haven’t seen it used extremely negatively as on some other places.
And I might have accidently hit the down vote button…but never intentionally. If I don’t like it…I just move on and don’t vote.
I feel the same Courtney, and true its not as bad as some places. I think we got a thick skin from the other site. lol I have hit the darn thing on accident too.
A few times I was not sure if I voted so I clickeed the up button, but I must have voted up the first time, so it went to a down vote. I quickly changed it back. It can be an accident, but not every time lol. Your post are upvote worthy.
True, thats happened to me as well. I was wondering how many I didnt get to vote on before I realized what was happening.

That is true since we are all have different tastes in life.
I don’t downvote posts, but then I generally don’t read posts that I would be inclined to downvote in the first place…

The down button is great for open submissions because you call play around and change the order. That is very fun. Since on one really every participates in my open lists I down vote myself to change the order so viewers see something different. So yes, I believe that is a reason to have it.
I have a long memory (not really it’s her journal). There was probably a perceived reason. There were a few “f” bombs dropping here in the beginning. It was not done by me, but I might have been if I had been treated the same.
I am glad you find it humorous and I am also glad someone else felt safe enough to shout their outrage.
I have done the lists too, I never thought of down voting to make the photo you want in front or in the order you want.
(I haven’t had down vote in a very long time, but in the beginning there were a couple of Virilian.. thugs? lol yes, bullies. They attacked me and I told them to fuck off on another site, but not this one.. Yes, I used bad words 🙁 )
I still don’t see a good reason to have a down vote button. You can change the order by up voting too, maybe I am missing something.
I think there is value in people liking and not liking posts. I am fine with that. I downvote posts that are blatantly false. Or worse based on information that has been disproven over and over. There are a couple of people on the site here that if you downvote one of theirs (and comment) they go downvote 10 of your posts and don’t comment.
Oh well.
I have used it for that same reason, before I realized that just telling or reporting the post works just as well. I haven’t used it in a long time. The hateful down voting is no bueno!
Actually, if you’ve voted for a post (say this post), voting or it a second time will make it a “down vote”.
It happened before … So if you’ve 4 votes now (and one of them is from me), I vote again (upvote) then it will down to 3 votes. It’s probably a bug …
So maybe that someone visited all your posts and then voted them again … lol Not knowing it will cause a down-vote instead.
I’m assuming that maybe that someone joined the “challenge” started by Ghostwriter to interact with all posts of a named person … lol but just my assumption
Aha, REALLY??? I had no idea that happened. I had noticed if you click the upvote twice it goes back to you not voting. Did that make sense? I missed the challenge by Ghost. Good point alibb!! Thank you for telling me/us.

I am still with you on this one. I still see no reason for it.
If the item is porn for example, I could see it being down voted and reported. If you express a view (like trash my country) yeah… but what you are describing is a whack job who will take the time to go through how many hundred posts….
