The dark side, I think we are all quite familiar with that term, and yes, everyone has a dark side to each. Even Mark Twain has said, “Everyone is a moon and has a dark side he never showed to anybody”, likewise with the views of Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham with their Johari Window.
But is the dark side just a bad side? Is there no dark side which is a hidden part that is not ugliness but a privilege? Isn’t our light side also not all about our goodness? In a certain perspective, awareness or enlightenment comes when we succeed in finding something from that dark side. In a world of duality, everything has both twin characteristics, right?

That’s true, the dark side isn’t necessarily all about evil, and it isn’t necessarily all about what we hide from other people: it might host things about us we don’t even know ourselves.
We don’t see it, but it has never been dormant. I really like the moon analogy.
Then, if balance is the ideal state, both extremes can be bad, including light (goodness).
I am glad that you understand this philosophy, Sabrina. I think humans should not stop to understand the host and something that it represents just because it’s guarded by a limited understanding of it.
In balance, both ends can be good or bad. Light can blind as well as darkness, the sweetness of sugar can bring serious illness while the bitter medicine can cure.

I do not know if this could be said by the dark side .. possibly the bad side … I think everyone has it on their own and if only I can not reveal my pages
Of course, I don’t ask you to say your private things or hidden, dear friend. We all have it, even people may won’t possibly willing to listen if I tell it because it can be boring.
Everyone has a dark or a bad side. Sometimes we try to conceal it. Or control it. But unfortunately we do not always succeed. The photo is fully in line with what you wrote.
In terms of character and attitude, the dark side must also be looking for outlets to appear, with or without us knowing.
Ah… Yayaya… of course, I remember the picture on your t-shirt!
…And thank you for your compliment.
Now I know why you like that picture so much, apparently about eyes and glasses.
…and isn’t that eyes and glasses?
I am happy if this approach is useful, however small. Thanks a lot.
No, not you who said small but me, I’m happy if something I share can be a little useful.
You’re lucky, I don’t even understand anything here.
But, thank you so much…
Part of my dark side is dark by choice, hidden. I do not wish my soft interior revealed at times to the world. I keep my darkness in a small room off the main part of my heart. It does not shape my choices, but I do choose to keep most of my darkness private. Few are allowed in that room.
The darkness is part of us. We cannot always dance with the clouds.
Such choices are natural. Like a well, the deeper, the hole will be darker, only dark, or hidden and does not mean it is always bad. As owners of wells, we are people who know what’s the content of the well is if we often go down into it.
Darkness is an integral part of our whole being, which we can immediately enter at any time, even just by winking. Deep inside, in the darkness that is no longer a place to hide or hiding something, it is the secret of the whole universe.
Darkness also lets us hide away the things we do wish to share with the world. Only the special few are allowed in to wander about the darkness.
You are like talking about a “peaceful place” that we have built inside there with some kind of provision about who may or may not enter it.
yes. That is where I keep my darkness. I let my wife in, because she understands my perceptions. I don’t let my children in, I do not wish to alarm them.
Sometimes i let others in as well. It is a quiet place within me, darkness and peace coincide.
That’s great, Doc. Not everyone builds and has such a place in our silence plane. It is a good central cockpit to direct our lives.
The greatest treasure of every human being is into the dark side, because it contains not only neglected weaknesses, but also hidden strengths.
I am more excited because there are friends talking here who see and understand things in depth.
That’s just because you’re provoking us!
Oh, is that true? Am I that bad? ?
I kind see my opposite side of dark as a monster ready to lash out at my rivals but I realize it is not nice to burn bridges by yelling at my relatives not to disturb me while I am at work.
In short, you are a patient and wise person.
Fights never settle problems. They only make it worse. I try to be patient with my relatives.
You have extraordinary principles as shown through the cartoon hero in your profile.
Thank you since Wordgirl is kind of a cool kids super hero.
It seems that you really like that cartoon.
We may have to cover up the dark side if we feel that it is bad.
Yup! That is our tendency, humans in general.
I’ve always thought the dark sides just contains all those secrets, too embarrassing or evil to be known…
But what one sees as “dark” may not be totally sinister to others, perhaps just some mistakes …
I don’t think dark sides have much good stuffs in there, at least to the “owner” who would probably not want to visit them…
In a general sense, the range of the dark side can be start as just a shame or a small mistake to the most terrible things. Even Dr. Robert Bruce Banner always asks that people not provoke his dark side.
Beyond that general understanding, are there any other views about the “dark side” of humans?
I’m not too sure, perhaps I need some enlightenment… 🙂
Don’t worry… That will happen, but you don’t need to speed it up by swallowing the bulb…
Oh, thanks for reminding,
I almost eat that LED bulb from the X’mas tree … :p
Oh no!!! Please don’t do it! You’ll be the light on the other side of life if you do it!
I do not know if I would say a dark side. Maybe the other side. I think we all have two sides. I do not think that one side is bad, but it is a side that we do not show to anyone.
I do not doubt the reality that we all have strength and weaknesses, also both sides, which are open, bright and closed, dark, but want to say that both, also have both sides, goodness has negativity and vice versa.
I totally agree. I always say that every person has good and bad sides. Everybody has some kind of shortcomings. It is important, however, which side prevails.
As a game, life gives us a set of cards for us to play, in which there may be an Ace, some small point card, King or Queen, but maybe also the Joker. What do we want to play? For what? For win or merely be happy?
Ha, actually this is part of my writing that I will post tonight.
I have a different side to what most people see. I would prefer to call it different and not dark. Only because dark has such a bad reputation. It shouldn’t, but it does. I can get into the dark places of my mind and not want to come out. We have talked about this before. I have been to those dark places, and I don’t like them. However my mind seems to take me there from time to time. The good part is I visit for shorter times now. Making progress my friend.
The photo is perfect with this post. Great effect.
I understand fully. People with all the experiences you have of course understand that side, but that is, we are often imprisoned by special terms and emotions that are implanted in it. I think, one of our personal tasks is to neutralize the connotations of various terms and words only so that we are freer to move with our thoughts and feelings, apart from us understanding it as a general understanding. Hopefully.
Thank you for your compliment, Carol.
