I am always excited to see new birds. As i was walking around my son’s university campus, almost at the edges of the grassy lands I found this cute bird i haven’t seen before. It is called by various names such as the Brahminy starling, black headed starling, Sturnia Pagodarum etc. It is a distant cousin of the mynah. I had posted a beautiful picture of this bird earlier.
This bird feeds on ants, butterflies, bees, worms , grasshoppers, crickets etc. It about 5-6 inches across, a small bird. It has blue skin around the eyes and has bluish grey eyes. Song includes huge variety of different notes and short repeated notes. It mics the other birds like the mynah.
I could get only a couple of shots of this bird before it flew away. I was as happy to have got these pictures in my bird picture collection. I am always happy to share my pictures of birds , flowers and nature here with you, I hope you like them.

I love watching birds and all the time I see new species (new to me), it’s wonderful.
what a great capture – shows having your camera is a good thing!
It does help to carry you camera around for moments like these.
it does, the other amazing this is your college-age son lets you be seen with him in public. Mine, do not!
beautiful bird , what is the name of this bird ?
I have mentioned various names of these birds in my post – here they are once again. They are called by various names such as the Brahminy starling, black headed starling, Sturnia Pagodarum, black caped starling.
Beautiful bird.
We have several and I have a slide show of those that visit us.
I have done that too on another site, perhaps I should load it on youtube. But with the policy changes on youtube I guess I won’t do it.
I too am concerned about the youtube policy.
I have ever seen this kind of bird before but it is beautiful,
Thank you for stopping by to admire this little bird.
You know I love birds, have not seen this bird before in my backyard.
That I do, I guessed you may not have seen it because it is found in the Asian and Asia -pacific regions only.
Beautiful birds, just I cannot say for sure if I saw this kind of bird before.
Thanks Fortune, for stopping by and admiring this little bird.
Wonderful birds, dear Dawn … I don’t think nobea lives here
I guessed so Lado, it is too cold for these birds in your side of the globe.
Surely … these birds would probably freeze all over us in winter, dear Dawn
I have several bird feeders around the yard and love watching the birds come to feed.
I just read a post about your bird feeders and birds. Its lovely to meet people with similar interests.
