What stopped Superman to fly? It is because the telephone booths where he used to change are gone. Lex Luthor did it. He collected all the telephone booths and threw them at the bottom of the sea.
Although Superman can change wardrobe in taxis, he really prefers the booths. Maybe it is because it is for free.
Regardless…
Years ago… when I was still living in the Philippines, to be able to get a telephone line, we need to wait in queue for 10 to 15 years. Yes, not a mistake not days nor months but years. The option to communicate by phone is through the telephone booth. These days, who needs a landline when everybody owns a mobile phone.

I have advised Superman to work with Harry Potter so that he can change clothes inside his magic robe.
In my country, there are still many fix phones installed in homes and in corporate offices, just to complement the address and rarely use, but such public telephone booths no longer exist.
fortunately here there are so many public phones still. and people are using it still… like me. if I don’t have my phone.
at home we still have a landline, but because it is connected to our internet.
magic robe? hmmm… I better give that tip to superman.
Here, there are still many fixphones installed at home for internet connection and Cable TV, but their use has clearly dropped dramatically. And certainly, there are no public telephone boxes.
Hey, that magic rope is indeed for Superman, not for you.
haha magic robe… wait is this a rope or the invisibility cloak. come on you are now confusing me, which is which.
oh yeah the landline at home has not rung for a long time. if it is ringing it is telemarketers. haha
I don’t know the correct term, maybe not both, but in one film, he uses the invisible robe and becomes invisible too.
Oh really? Telemarketers still use and contact land line?
I still have a land line phone alone with my cell phone. Can’t imagine not having it.
at home we also have a landline that seldom rings but then we needed it because that’s where we get our internet connection, too.
Some such phones still exist, but they are not used by anyone
/how do these phones survive? I mean if no one is using them anymore? Who maintains them?
In the Adventures Of Superman where the late George Reeves played the Man Of Steel he would go into an alley and change into his costume.
I have never met George Reeves, was this the father of Christopher? wow.. never saw he changed also in the alley.
Both actors who played Superman in television and in the movies are not related since the late George Reeves real name was George Keefer Brewer and the late Christopher Reeve real name is Christopher D’Oiler Reeve.
ahhh wow such a nice coincidence to have two superman with almost the same surnames. I really thought that they are related. thanks this is a very nice information
You are welcome since I was not even born when The Adventures Of Superman played on television.
However I do remember seeing the cartoon “The New Adventures Of Superman” who was voiced by the late Bud Collyer. .
There are some pay phones around my neighborhood but they are broken.
Besides, if you saw the first Superman with Christopher Reeves, you know that revolving doors work just fine. 🙂
Oh yeah i remember that.. revolving doors, but i guess some people got dizzy after he changes his wardrobe using that.
and now i remember the other term too, pay phone. thanks I had been scratching my head about this.
I cannot even remember the last time I used a telephone booth. I believe it was during junior high
When was that? How many years ago, 1O years?
I’d say like 22 or 23 years ; )
ohhhh… ok… then so 23 plus… 2O18 plus… ahhmm… then you are 3O plus years now. just kidding peace
I’m 36 : ) Soon to be 37 in February : )
Telephone booths still exist, I just do not know if they even work and if anyone uses them
ohhh you would know, if they are dirty it means people are no longer use them.
Today there are almost every mobile phone
exactly, good thing that here these landline , payphones are around wherever we go we see.
You sent an interesting post. Thank you.
Thanks for reading… your comment is interesting as well. have fun.
That is a good one my friend. Keep them coming. 🙂 No phone booths around my area.
Thanks… you know that I don’t have the luxury of time to be here all the time. But yes I will keep it up. thanks for the moral support
I would love to see phones booths around our town, but now it is mostly cell phones in use.
Exactly, but here those phones are still functional. We can also use them to call on mobile phone numbers.
Let’s start with what is the funniest title I’ve read in a while. You made me laugh out loud and then roll on the floor! (ROFL).
South East Asia didn’t invest as much in early telephone technology. It didn’t fit, the reality of all the distributed nation states. The US did. When cellular hit, SEA jumped all over cellular. I remember being in Malaysia in 2004 and complaining that everywhere I went in the country I had 4 or more bars on my phone. In the US there were many places where 1 bar was the most you would get.
I’m glad you ROLF. hope you did not pee your pants.
Anyway, I really don’t know how suddenly the cellular hit Asian countries just like that. It was so fast. My first application for the telephone line was not even approved yet, when I re-apply for a new line in another branch and in two-weeks time I was granted a line.
So there was a better signal in SEA than in the US
It is funny that way, cell phones of course, exploded in SEA.
yes, they exploded here and it is just like became so cheap. exploded the ones made in China, the Bokia and Mokia… the China sham lol
The reality of cheap manufacturing really helps China be a dominant economic force in SEA. India as well, but they are a little further east. The evolution of business globally is the rise of India, China and now Vietnam as well (Thailand and the Philippines are also huge technology creation and helpdesk countries).
