Photo Challenge 365 days: #16 Do you know why Superman doesn’t fly anymore?

What stopped Superman to fly?  It is because the telephone booths where he used to change are gone.   Lex Luthor did it.  He collected all the telephone booths and threw them at the bottom of the sea.

Although Superman can change wardrobe in taxis,  he really prefers the booths.  Maybe it is because it is for free.

Years ago… when I was still living in the Philippines, to be able to get a telephone line, we need to wait in queue for 10 to 15 years.  Yes, not a mistake not days nor months but years.    The option to communicate by phone is through the telephone booth. These days, who needs a landline when everybody owns a mobile phone.

  • Who still uses a coin-operated phone?

    • I do.
    • Some people here are.
    • I don’t even know what this thing is.
  • Do you still have a landline at home and offices?

    • Yes
    • No
  • Do you know how to use these phone?

    • Yes
    • No

What do you think?

  1. I have advised Superman to work with Harry Potter so that he can change clothes inside his magic robe.

In my country, there are still many fix phones installed in homes and in corporate offices, just to complement the address and rarely use, but such public telephone booths no longer exist.

  2. Let’s start with what is the funniest title I’ve read in a while. You made me laugh out loud and then roll on the floor! (ROFL).

South East Asia didn’t invest as much in early telephone technology. It didn’t fit, the reality of all the distributed nation states. The US did. When cellular hit, SEA jumped all over cellular. I remember being in Malaysia in 2004 and complaining that everywhere I went in the country I had 4 or more bars on my phone. In the US there were many places where 1 bar was the most you would get.

    • I’m glad you ROLF. hope you did not pee your pants.

Anyway, I really don’t know how suddenly the cellular hit Asian countries just like that. It was so fast. My first application for the telephone line was not even approved yet, when I re-apply for a new line in another branch and in two-weeks time I was granted a line.

So there was a better signal in SEA than in the US
