The Washington Monument is iconic. It represents the man that is considered the father of the US. yes, he had many flaws and there are many things I wish he had not done. But the monument is beautiful.

you can never forget your past. But sometimes you need to move forward and leave the past behind.
John Lewis, a bastion of American Civil rights passed away this weekend. I cannot tell you how sad that makes me. He was a voice of reason in a time of hardship. He was arrested more than 40 times. He spoke during the March on Washington, in fact he was the last speaker from that March still alive.

I understand that a human being cannot be bigger than life. That Washington, Jefferson and others had many flaws that make it hard for us to understand what they were thinking then. But their reality isn’t the measure of a person. The reality is the measure of the impact that a person has or had.
I believe in the dream shared by Dr. King and Mr. Lewis. We have to stand now for the right things!

Doc, I like the last quote the best. They are all good but that ones really speaks. Martin Luther King was a very great man.
the last lines come from a talk I gave to a group of high school seniors (virtually) this spring.
Thanks for sharing the wonderful videos. In these strange times, I would need more voices of reason.
i agree, we just lost one but i hope two more will step up.
I hope there are still good people who have at least a little common sense.
there are still good people. I would argue there are more good people than bad people in fact!
It’s amazing that Rep. John Lewis kept the same demeanor in the public eye for over 70 years! He was the perfect example of forgiveness and compassion.
he and Elijah Cummins changed the world we are better that they were with us
We have to remember what is right and wrong these days. Take a stand in what you believe in.
