Kim’s challenge for December is all about Winter. I am sure you all have something you can post about winter. I am going through my archives to share with this challenge.
Here is the link in case you missed it:
Themes by the Month for December
We are having a few snow flakes fall as I type. I will get photos later to share for another day.
This photo above shows the fence iced over. This happened during an ice storm we had nine years ago.
I stayed indoors during this storm as the roads were very danger out and iced over for days.

Wow Carol this is a natural work of art. Mother nature has a mind of its own.
Thanks, it really caught my eye in the sun light.
Wow, what an awesome photo. 9 years ago, I was in Memphis and we got one of the worst icestorms ever recorded. 😉 Same storm. I have video of Maggie mae out in the woods when it started to thaw and the cracks and pops the ice was making as it came down from the branches. It was really cool, but super dangerous.
Thanks, I hope we don’t get another ice storm. Looks pretty but what a mess! It makes the roads very dangerous.
The black ice was crystal clear wasn’t it. I didn’t get out for two weeks.
We have no ice storms so I haven’t experienced it yet …. they come high high in the hills but I don’t go
Good for you, they are no fun, unless you are inside looking out.
Ice storms bring cracks.
Crack, the sound made as a branch heavy with ice breaks and falls. When walking you always have to look up.
as a homeowner, you hope it falls away from the house!!!
You are so right. I hope we don’t get another one of these any time soon.
we got one last night that changes to snow. But it blew up my time-lapse weather camera and also took part of a tree in the back yard (it is a community tree not our tree)
That is not good. We don’t have any large trees close to the house.
we do, but they are all on the downhill side. so it fell down into the street of the condos behind our house. The management group called at 8 am saying our tree was blocking cars.
I said, um, that is your tree.
That is when you are lucky to live in a condo.
Looks like diamond studded chains.
Thanks, the sunlight helped it out.
surprised fence licking isn’t a thing on youtube
Ha you are a funny an Alex. It probably is a thing.
you’re probably right…
I can’t post anything about winter right now since we are having summers here. But Maybe in June next year. By then I will enjoy your winters :). However, back in India my area is full of ice and fresh snow. I come from the Himalayan area basically where even summers experience snowfall.
This is an old photo from a few years ago. Our weather and seasons are opposites. That is cool that you have experienced all kinds of weather.
Which weather do you prefer?
I know it’s a tricky question but I prefer winters!
I do as well from inside. 🙂
An iced fence is one thing but most winters while I lived in Latvia our suburban street would become completely ice and no one cared. If we had to go to the store we walked along the very sides holding on all the fences until we reached the main street. I was always afraid of falling.
This was huge for us, but i can imagine what you are saying.
Fortunately, I have not yet experienced an ice storm. I’ve always been safe.
Good for you, I was inside when this happened.
