I took a look at the largest cribs in Ljubljana that were raised in the Franciscan Church. Cribs are statues or paintings erected for the Christmas holidays to illustrate the birth of Christ. They are typical of the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Rite Catholic Churches. The figures are in any size. They can be made of wood, stone, clay, cut out of paper. They are placed on a moss or grass base. In some places, live cribs are also prepared – in Slovenia these are the best known in Postojna Cave, or ice cribs (Mojstrana). There is a museum in Brezje where you can see cribs from all over the world. The first cribs in Slovenia were erected in the cervus of St. Jacob in Ljubljana in 1644

Thank you for your visit and nice comment, dear friend…but also in Romania you are of Orthodox faith …. I know you have different traditions of Orthodox … my grandfather was of Orthodox religion so we always celebrated 2 Christmas and 2 New Years when he was still alive
These are wonderful, we don’t have this tradition here.
Thanks for viewing and a friendly comment dear Ellie…I’m glad you like it

I totally agree with you
You have a crib set up at home?
Yes, I have a crib at home (not really big)
Oh beautiful … it doesn’t matter how big they are … it matters that they serve their purpose
People have some plastic crib for a Christmas ornament, but I really like your photo it is beautiful.
Thank you for your visit and nice comment, dear Pamela….cribs are made of all possible materials …. they are clay and painted
We also have cribs here before Christmas but not in any church, just in the main square of our city. we can see them under the glass barrier. They look amazing.
Thanks for viewing and a friendly comment….with us, every church has a crib …. in the open you see them …. and of course they also prepare live cribs
I shared this on a new social media site. Can you let me know if you a significant amount of views today? Thanks.
Thanks for watching and kind comment….you can look at my post anytime and see how many views I have
But I don’t know what your averages are and when they come in. I am trying to figure out if this new social media site is bringing in more. I guess I can see if someone else wants to help. Have a great day.
I can help you no problem … have a nice day too
it is a tradition that many places share my friend. Nativity is the name we use in English. A live recreation is always fun to see!!!
Thank you for your visit and nice comment, dear friend…it is a tradition and characteristic of the Roman Catholic Church
many of the Christian churches also continue that tradition! I always enjoy seeing them!!!
I also go see them every year … if possible in more than one way
this time of year there are many celebrations underway
There are indeed quite a few saints we celebrate here
Great to see this. Everybody has this in Spain, every city has a crib. I did not know the word in English was crib. We say “Belén” in Spanish.
Thanks for viewing and a friendly comment, dear friend…in Slovenian, we say – Jaslice
That´s great. I love to learn new words. Jaslice sounds good.
Thank you, dear friend…
