High self-esteem and our ego?

Refusing ego has always seemed such a viscous affair to me. After all, the more I denied it, the more I was proud of myself and fed the same ego.

The parable I once heard, sounded most understandable: the ego disappears in the face of magnificent nature when neither the “I” nor any household issues are left, only that breathtaking moment alone.

And what you think about ego?

  1. I think a healthy self esteem is necessary but the ego can get in the way. Pride comes before a fall.
Think it is best to have a realistic sense of what you can do, realise one is human, and walk humbly in life respecting and caring for others as we journey this world together.
Human life in the end is extremely frail and we all share that amongst people in the world.

  2. High self esteem is necessary to function properly, but it has to go hand in hand with humility, that to know that there are people who are better and worse off than you are. Be ready to help others if you have the time and the ability to do so. But not to have a puffed up image of yourself. Know who you really are and what you can reasonably accomplish.
