Kim has started the month with a week dedicated to neon colors. Here’s a photo I believe fits with the challenge. The flower is Lagerstroemia, commonly known as crape myrthe or crepe myrthe. It’s native to the Indian subcontinent.
Do you know that true neon signs are only orange-reddish in color? The other colors are made by noble gases other than neon, or they are a form of colored fluorescent lighting.
Neon lighting was invented in 1902 and was first sold as interior lighting but people weren’t happy with the color. Read more interesting facts here.

Thank you for the reminder, I owe you some purple parrots!
unless you think I am actually a secret fan of purple parrots and don’t want to post them myself to reveal that 🙂
I think you really are and just pretending in order to be able to see more and more of them. 😁
you may have called both my bluffs at the same time
I did not know these facts. I love this bloom, mine will bloom soon.
They were new to me too. The photo is from last year but they bloom around this time of the year here as well.
Beautiful flower , We have it in our home
That’s wonderful! I only see it by the seaside here.
I was the first one to post on this challenge. Kim may not have seen it. Neon can be in many colours.
We call neon colors many hues but the signs that use neon gas produce orange-red light. 🙂
Oh I had no idea. Wow, that is really cool. You taught me a few things today, and I didnt know Crepe Myrtle had an India beginning. I want to read about neon lights now.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I always enjoy researching new information for the posts here.
