prepare yourself for war
steel doors open
and legions prepare to launch.
it is within us, this growing hot and flaming reality
that spreads form us
across the hand-drawn maps
that lead us to war.
Indiscriminate in hate
we grab plows
and beating them over and over
fashion swords from words
and shields from phrases.
Roar now and the dogs
howl
roar now, and find the field
for now
no longer
the battle begins.
We are bound to sides
bound to paths
we are ready
just lack the map
that shows
who is a friend
and who is foe.

It’s a beautiful poem.
i love writing poetry, i struggle at times but it remains a passion!
It’s one of the toughest genre of writing but rewarding.
it is certainly the one you are least likely to make money doing.
Yah, unless one tries participating in a poetry contest.
i did that for many years – i probably made a total of less than 2000 us dollars over 20 years.
You were lucky to win several of poetry contests.
i think over the years I won 20 of them, it really wasn’t that big a deal.
I did win one that my mom got the prize that one I cared about!
That’s quite something 😀 especially for writers trying to break into the writing world.
i had a lot of poems published, but in the end, it wasn’t my livelihood it was something I loved.
A beautiful song,my dear !!!
thank you so much for the kind words!
Roar! Like lions
To let the world know
We are alive
With more fights in us
Ready to battle
Shadows and ghosts
Monsters and goblins
That are residing
In no places but our brains 😜
nice – the imagery is fierce.
but of course, as you point out in your piece the battle lies within.
I got it from your growing hot and flaming reality line 😂
it is a mix of inner and outer turmoil then.
A beautiful song. Too bad I don’t have the talent to write songs.
i am not sure it is a great talent. It is just putting words into a flow.
That’s also why we need to have a little talent.
or start talking early in life and just keep talking!
This one takes my mind all over the map. Good job.
it is a poem i found yesterday when I was digging through a box that hadn’t been unpacked. I thought i packed it in Indiana to move here.
it was packed in Cincinnati and not opened for 20 years!
It can be a little scary for me to find an unopened box.
i thought i was ready for all of them. until last week. i need to think about this more.
Great poem dear brother. You make me want to write one soon. Take care
please do- please do!!!! the two other folks that write poetry are not on the site right now. I miss reading poems!
Ok anything for my brother.
i saw it this morning, will be reading it in a bit!
