Creating recipes from left overs

In our household food is never wasted.  We make good use of our fridge. Bread however loses its freshness even though sometimes we steam left over bread to get back its freshness but it never gets back to its original condition.

I use left over bread to make what we call ‘dahi wada’  Dahi wada is usually prepared from black gram paste.  I used bread instead.

This is how it is made

Soak bread in water for a while and then squeeze out the bread.Add chopped green chilies and chopped onion with salt to taste.   Make balls.Deep fry these balls.  Prepare curds (yoghurt) by beating it gently. Add sugar.  Place the deep fried balls in curds after they are cooled. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and a dash of red chili powder.

An ideal snack for any time.  We have it for breakfast.

  1. I have heard a few of the TV chefs say always keep chicken broth in your pantry and throw your leftovers into the pot with the broth. It usually makes a great soup.
