Are Readers Actually Reading Your Articles?

For a moment, just imagine having a conversation with a new business client, you are trying your darnedest to keep them engaged in what you’re saying, but it’s clear they’re just looking for a chance to escape.

Regardless of what you have to say, or even how enthusiastically you say it, they’re simply not into your discussion! Is this sounding at all familiar with your writing efforts?

Even though you’re working double-time, (12:00 am to 5:00 am daily) to provide interesting things for your reader, the results just aren’t there, this can make you extremely frustrated, yet, it’s a feeling many writers everywhere, know all too well. Even though your articles are getting lots of views, (no complaints there), the readers may just not be interested in any of what you have to say, they are just being honest about it.

Having lost a connection with your audience, or having possibly, never had one with them at all, is upsetting. Online, it’s even harder to establish good relationships, or to nurture existing ones, or to even build a fan base through your article writing.

This article is typically how and what my writing is about, if there is something you as the reader would like to suggest, a topic, perhaps, kindly leave a comment below. I am asking you, the readers of my stuff, to kindly come forward with ideas you would like to read about.

Any reasonable idea or suggestion will be considered and if you feel like I’m wasting my time writing here at Virily.com that is fine too, please feel free to say so, but at least tell me why you say this, in the spirit of improvement.

I thank you, Andre Hartslief aka. Tranquilpen

  1. Every time I come on hear I read as many articles as I can before I do any new posting. Your a great writer and I enjoy reading what you have written. I usually pick and choose things to write about that I think will interest others but it is always only a guessing game.

  2. @Andre Hartslief Yes, I do read what you write. I share it. I often “feel” it. It’s hard to know who reads and then it is hard to know if they have a clue about what you wrote about. Some of the comments I get confuse me. And there have a few of those who insist on being unkind to me and others. I wish people could stay on the positive side and talk about something other than what is perceived as bad or wrong.

    • I had no other way of writing this post but how you, especially, since you are still busy working and holding a household together, still find time to read my stuff is beyond me! ?. You and Carol and RasmaSandra are all some real-life tightrope walkers, I SWEAR!. I get the visits but don’t always know whether other folks actually read or even understand me, I was just curious and I sure got an earful as well as you may have noticed. We can but try, thanks again love/ err, I mean Ghostwriter. Lol.
What do you make of Doc’s post, How can I improve the views for my posts?”

    • Thank you, Carol, I know you never miss a post of mine, I wish I could say the same about my reading of your content and I thank you for that, I was curious why so few others actually read my stuff. When I look at the visits I get, I was just curious whether I should just see what’s popular and just write about those topics for the sake of Virils and to hell with deep research into unusual things. Well, I believe I’m going to just keep on writing about things I find interesting, as I have done till now. In spite of having been so kindly shown below, how useless my poll percentages are. 🙂

  3. Thank you for participating in this popularity poll/market research, you have kindly helped me to obtain a percentage result into my study, I would otherwise not have had clarity about. I now have insight into the success of my content, ie, 86% read my content and 14% do not. Regarding your mention of, the way I act”, I will strive to comply with that. 86% of the recipe is not 100% but it’s good enough for me!

  4. I personally read the articles I open here, especially the ones I upvote or comment, but the internet is so oversaturated with information that it’s natural for people to just scan or read diagonally nowadays to find out whether the topic interests them before they engage with it more.

    • Hello Ellie, yes I agree with you, I was just curious how folks feel about my stuff. And you are so right about the internet being saturated with information, this was another reason I wanted to find out if what I’m writing was worth writing about on Virily or not. Thanks for indulging my foible. 🙂

  5. I always have the hopes of building an audience outside of Virily, but it seems so hard because I’m everywhere with what I share. What I share is what I’m into, but seemingly to establish a good audience you have to be consistent with the same topic. I have so many interests from sports, fashion, fitness, health, and shopping ; )

  6. I prefer short posts and I read them all. But just as a gesture I view posts that are long -winded. They get 5 virils for that. At the end of the day, most here want to earn within as short a time as possible The Site allows it and so where is the issue?

    • There is no issue here, the purpose of my enquiry was to gauge whether people prefer to ie know where my dog/cat likes to sun him/itself on my deck/patio or about the peculiarities of the Hebridean Islands of Scottland, ie, “musical sand” or one family of 5 living on an entire island,(last generation) etc. are of interest to the average readership on the site. The poll says 86% read my content and 14% don’t. I would not have known this without asking! There was/is no issue. Thank you for making time to respond. ?
