Love ItLove It

A window to things that used to be

The path

winding

led to a small mountain stream

pausing

the elk drank.

The window,

opened outward

and striking the elk

startling him

he leaped into the air

Exposing the last of his summer coat.

Who threw open the window

The elk cried

the sound of silence

met

with an icy stare.

If you cannot listen

the elk said

then I cannot care

and slamming his shoulder

into the window

drove it back into memory

and far from sight.

  1. I answered yes for the three questions, after reading your cool poem.

There are many things around me that remind me of certain people, quite a lot, sometimes I reflect on them, reevaluate, and draw additional meanings.

About specific day, my father died on December 8.

  2. We grew up in an old home full of antiques. (We moved there when I was 3 years old.) My Dad used to have us play a game. “Make up a story about what happened in this room.

It was a very large and old home. It had great big radiators for heat and a big coal furnace that had to be stoked in the night so we would be warm.

I loved everything about living in that old home.

  3. Great poem, good questions. Yes to all three. Christmas was my dad’s fav holiday. I am thinking a lot about him lately. I miss him.
Love the yo-yos, they look professional.
