The path
winding
led to a small mountain stream
pausing
the elk drank.
The window,
opened outward
and striking the elk
startling him
he leaped into the air
Exposing the last of his summer coat.
Who threw open the window
The elk cried
the sound of silence
met
with an icy stare.
If you cannot listen
the elk said
then I cannot care
and slamming his shoulder
into the window
drove it back into memory
and far from sight.

I answered yes for the three questions, after reading your cool poem.
There are many things around me that remind me of certain people, quite a lot, sometimes I reflect on them, reevaluate, and draw additional meanings.
About specific day, my father died on December 8.
My twins were born on the same day as my father, makes for a hard celebration sometimes.
That must be a festive birthday party every year.
About the date of birth, me, my wife and our two daughters were born on the 10th, although in different months. We just blew the youngest daughter’s birthday candle.
That is awesome! My dad used to always say I was sent to ruin his special days. I was born on my parent’s 4th wedding anniversary (the day of). The last grandchildren my parents have were the twins. THey were born on his birthday.
That is amazing! You and the twins do have an unusual way to supplement what your father must celebrate.
We sure do try 🙂 It does make celebrating the twins birthday’s just a little more melancholy, now that dad is gone.
33, 66 was a big birthday for all of us (twins were, 3 and 3, dad was 66).
Very unique, especially (just) if you are a fan of numerology. Hehehe…
I love the oddity of numbers in our life. It is part of the mystery and the magic!
I agree and are happy with your opinion.
We grew up in an old home full of antiques. (We moved there when I was 3 years old.) My Dad used to have us play a game. “Make up a story about what happened in this room.
It was a very large and old home. It had great big radiators for heat and a big coal furnace that had to be stoked in the night so we would be warm.
I loved everything about living in that old home.
We actually never really lived in an old house until we moved to Cincinnati. Our first house there was nearly 70 years old!
Yes I am remembering my brother today and every day, lost him three years ago today.
It is difficult to walk life and not lose someone. My sympathies for your loss.
Great poem, good questions. Yes to all three. Christmas was my dad’s fav holiday. I am thinking a lot about him lately. I miss him.
Love the yo-yos, they look professional.
We actually, years ago used to use them to pass the wire through sections of false ceilings. Thanks Kim!!!
OH really? wow, how cool is that. You didn’t use terriers? lol
LOL. That is a good one, I am going to borrow it!!!
Great photos to remember. I love antiques a lot, mine or anyone elses.
The ones on the wall aren’t really antiques, except my dad had them for years.
Helping each others is the main concept of human beings
vERY TRUE, it is both a way of life, and a way to live life!
